Celtics stars having an off game on the second night of a back to back in which the first game is treated with playoff minutes...wake me up when a real storyline emerges.

Excuse making seems to be starting early this year. Lol
Yes its much better to be miserable and panic constantly.

You guys do know that noone here is making excuses or is miserable, right?

It´s a generous assessment of the team´s performance and a response from someone who is afraid his beloved Celtics could underperform and fail to win the championship, nothing more.

It´s just the second game of the season, it´s premature to make an absolute statement, either way.

In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

this was a game i expected KG could get whatever he wanted...they really didn't play through him at all...though doc stayed with that second unit way too long in the second half

This team has major problems if they don't get consistent bench play. The bench is supposed to help this team with back to back games. JO and Nate did next to nothing. You can't ask these older starters to play major minutes this year. I am more concerned about the bench than anything else

It's game #2 of an 82 game season.

The over-reaction to an October loss is laughable.

Yeah but it just makes last night win pretty pointless, a win is a win no matter who it's against...and them talking about wanting homecourt advantage so bad...you gotta bring it every night

Realistically, does anyone doubt that this won't happen again?  This team is gonna take games off, and not just a few, and focus on the long haul.  I don't like it, it's not fun to watch, but it is what it is.  Last year proved that the playoffs are all that count.

It happens every year to even the best teams. If it didn't happen some team over the history of the NBA would have won 82 games.

I don't mean losing, I mean losing against worse teams due mostly to lack of effort and execution.  If we stay healthy it shouldn't be as bad as last season, but it's still gonna happen.

Missed the game.  What a bummer.

Just from the boxscore it looks like we're living and dying with Ray's jumper.

Awful loss, so stupid... way to go to get Homecourt Advantage. A stupid defeat against a TERRIBLE team and a lot of minutes for the starters on a back to back. A great loss loss situation.

And kudos to Rondo for persisting to REFUSE to drive to the basket when his team desperately needs an easy bucket, he can do it everytime but he never does (or when the game is over).

Good night guys.
The Cavs played him smartly and sagged straight to the paint in the second half.

Still he needs to create more for this team to function offensively.

I didn't see how the played him smart, he still had a huge advantage over Sessions or Gibson. He should have at least tried to penetrate to then score or make a pass to a wide open teammate but he just stood on the court waiting for teammates to get out of screens. I can understand Rondo not taking this "closer" role last year but now he must do it, it's his team, and it's even more true on the 2nd night of a back to back.

Not really. A win vs. Miami on National TV sends a message to the rest of the NBA to watch out for us.

A win vs. Cleveland on local TV in the 2nd game of the year doesn't really say much.

Worst screw job I have ever seen in my life... and I've been following the C's since 1982.

The refs in that game ought to be hogtied and dipped in manure. I can't believe I keep watching this league. David Stern is.... words fail.

I'm no fan of JO, but any reasonable person who looks at the six fouls against him: are you kidding me? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

How does it make it pointless?

Last night illustrated what this Celtics team is capable of and most people will say that the Celtics weren't even firing on all cylinders then.

This Celtics team is one of the top 3 teams in the NBA.  How many teams in the NBA can conceivably take out that Miami team?  We know we're one of them.

Tonight was certainly a letdown but my money is saying that last night is much more indictive of where this Celtics team stands, one of a handful of teams that can legitimately contend for a title.

Games like this happen in the regular season all the time.  How many times over the years have we seen a team playdown to the competition?

How is winning at home against one of the top teams in the east meaningless?

Back to backs aren't kind to veteran teams, we still should have won though.
