i hope wafer gets cut he looks terrible out there. lasme remids me of a poor mans leon powe

Or a rich man’s Leon Powe...

You wouldn't have Powe out there guarding 3's like Lasme.
Did he guard 3s last night? I didn't catch the game.

A rich man's Leon Powe would at least rebound, even if he was playing the 3. From the box score Lasme didn't do that.

Lasme was guarding Iggy for some time and after the game he was the player Doc launched into gushing about, again, saying that he can defend the 3.

I would rather get rid of both of them (Wafer and Harangody) but Harangody is signed to a guaranteed contract and is a rookie so its unlikely he gets cut...

Wafer is on at least a partially-guaranteed contract.  Some news sources reported his contract was fully guaranteed.  It would be blatantly idiotic to cut either Wafer or Harangody if you're only going to leave the roster spot open.  To financially justify cutting Wafer (or Harangody, for that matter), either he has to be a cancer that you want to be rid of or else you want to make room for a player who you believe is more than marginally better than him.  Or else he has to have a partially guaranteed contract that becomes fully guaranteed if he makes the regular season roster.

If none of those conditions exist, then you keep the players, even if you don't particularly like them, until at least early January.  That's when teams start waiving players before all contracts become fully guaranteed on January 10.

Wanting to cut players just because you don't like them, without considering the nuances of roster and salary cap management is as ludicrous as if some supposedly professional sports columnist criticized the Celtics for failing to go after a max free agent this off-season without even looking at the salary cap.

Yeah that is what I was saying...

I think I am pretty sure Lasme is making the team so Wafer is out and Harangody's contract is fully guaranteed so he is most likely going to make the team unless West or Wafer become stars in the next two weeks.

I voted for Lasme and Erden.  Erden has a spot on the team for sure.  He has looked great this preseason to my surpise.

I didn't watch any of his World Championship games (except for the Championship one because I watched all the US Games and he looked pretty good in that), but in Summer League Erden looked awful so how he has been playing has been a very nice surprise.

As for Lasme I don't think anyone saw this coming.

West hasn't shown me to much, but if he is known for his defense then he has a chance.

And Wafer I've been wanting since he left Houston, but he hasn't shown me much of anything.

In '08-'09 he was great for Houston and he would be a steal of a signing if he could play like that for us, but he hasn't shown me anything close to that this preseason.

Doc and Danny have a tough decision ahead of them.

Maybe no one saw specifically Lasme coming, but every year there are undrafted rookies and D-League veterans and guys who went to Europe who would be better than the 14th player on the rosters of even the top teams, if only they got the chance.

Lasme may not be one of those guys, but if you have an eye for talent and bring in enough guys, you're almost always going to get someone who has an impressive preseason.

The second Dwest signed with the Celtics Wafer was gone.  There is no point in keeping him.

Gotta see Harangody through this contract.  There is alot of raw something there that has not been focused yet.  He needs time but there is no doubt he's got talent.  He could wash out or be the steal of the draft.  That's up to him though he needs to put in the minutes and focus on refining his game.  Notre Dame let him off the leash it looks like and that didn't help his game.

wafer gets waived, lasme to D league
I don't see a scenario in which Lasme will go to the D-league. If he's waived, I imagine he's going back to Europe. The guy is 27, and he can play.

Lasme has said that he is not going to Europe because he wants to be with his family who is here. He will go to Maine if he does not make the cut.
This interview came out after I made my post. The point was that he _will_ more lucrative options than going to the D-League (which is still true).

I hope the Cs don't exploit his willingness to stay on a D-League contract as a way of keeping both him and Wafer around.

I think Lasme is headed to a contract with the Rock Lobsters, and after Delonte is back from suspension, I could see the C's cutting Wafer(I'd like to say trading is an option, but given how Wafer is playing, I can't) and calling up Lasme.

Harangody and Bradley will be Rocking with the Lobsters most of the season, they are really promising but they are rookies and this team has plenty of quality veterans. Erden might go to Maine for a stint if the O'Neals and Perk are fully healthy.

Mario West... good luck, and Edgar is a HOF, so he's not going anywhere.

I think trades are unlikely, but with Ainge you never know.

Go Celtics!

I can't believe they're going to want Wafer in there even for the first 10 games of the season.

I think Wafer might be the odd man out but, it's only because of how deep this team is.  You can see he still has athleticism but, he's trying too hard right now because he can see the writing on the wall.  His BBIQ leaves a lot to be desired as well.

I just don't see how he'll get minutes.

I think Luke, Semi and Avery are all ahead of Von Wafer at this point.  Who knows, Wafer has a few more games to impress, I guess. :-\

Oh, and I spoke too soon on Luke.  The kid is looking pretty good.

You might be right, my overall point is that these are the 15. What do you think?

Lasme and Erden ... but I really like Mario West, too ... and Wafer has had some redeeming play. Edgar should be Coach ... let Doc take the Defensive Coach position. ;)

Somewhat unrelated, but...

Does anybody else just stare at the screen with a dumb grin on his/her face when watching Avery Bradley play defense?

So far with the games that have been played I would say that Mario and Wafer are on the list to be cut. I honestly don't see how people can pick anyone but these guys but everyone has an opinion.
