This is just great to hear. I know it's early, and I want him "phenomenal and explosive" in April, May, and June, but it really sounds like he is gonna be back to the pre-injury KG, which should have the rest of the NBA extremely worried.

Too many reasons to be excited after the longest Celtics offseason ever. Oct. 26th can't come soon enough.

KG could be a Most Improved Player candidate, i see a big year out of him. Everyones asleep on him, and he’s the type of player who gets mad at that stuff.

While I know what you are trying to say and agree with it...for the most part.

Once you already have an MVP under your belt, I dont think it is possible to win most improved player.

He would have to put up redunkulous numbers to get that award.

That's great to hear, but I think Davis would disagree.  Glen thinks HE should be the starting PF.  sorry, had to haha.

I think the bigger question may be who's to say he can't?

He won't get the shot attempts or minutes to get the award in all odds.

But he certainly could be a canidate depending on if he looks more like the KG of old.

Very true. So it's really all you can hope for. But you just gotta stay positive about it really. Hopefully it's true. I tend to think it is though because Doc doesn't usually bend the truth on injuries. I've found that to be more of a Danny and front office thing. But I may be having selective memory. So who knows.

FYI, Jermaine O'Neal opened up last season with a few 20-10 games.

We all saw how he was by the end of the season.

Point being, older players often start out the season looking great.  Michael Jordan could go out there and look 'phenomenal and explosive' for a couple games or a practice or two.

We should be really happy if KG is a) mostly healthy and b) consistently at or near the level he was at for most of the playoffs.

This is could be the difference maker in who takes control in the EC. When KG was cruising up and down the floor in 08 the Cs defense was lethal.

Sincerely hoping that knee is rounding back into shape. It could make this season one of the most memorable in NBA history.

Good points. But hopefully the positive thinking can translate into positive health in that knee this year. He's really only had one year when that knee was completely healthy here in Boston. Thats a true shame. But I also comepletely agree with and see your opinion here. TP.

I said all last season that this year would be the real test of how much KG's lost for good.  Knee injuries often aren't fully recovered until the second season back.  I hope this translates to the season...but I also hope KG doesn't burn himself out by December.  So far so good though.

KG on the defensive end is what we need to see.  Healthy I still think he's a top 3 candidate for defensive player of year.  dwight howard  ::)

Good point here. We are basically going to have to make a mental log of how he looks and comes along game to game. I've certainly done this in previous years but I think your right this year answers the real questions and therefore more emphasis should be placed on it. TP to you sir!

This could just be Doc trying to give KG some confidence after clearly not being the player he used to be last year.

Still, I buy the notion that this year his knee should be better.  As long as he doesn't physically deteriorate in other ways, I think we may something closer to the the pre-injury KG than the KG we saw last year.
