Anyone check out those ticket prices? Yoooowch. 157 dollars second cheapest for the heat, 90 for the Thunder.

Luckily I scored 2 tickets to see Terrence Williams and his Newark Nets for 13 bucks each. Only had to pay 2 dollars and fifty cents to print the tickets on my own printer! What a world!

In all seriousness, that's kind of a bummer. That's a whole mess of money to have to pay to see any of the top teams.

I got 4 tix to the Bobcats game on Jan 14th for 15 each. I'm quite pleased, as we always have epic games against them, they're an eastern conference team that's capable of grabbing a playoff spot, and it's during winter break. Win, win, and win.  ;D

Seriously.  Its gotten crazy - especially when you consider all the fees and whatnot.  Why should it cost more from the box office to go see a top team?  I can understand that there is more demand out there, but a $10 ticket should be a $10 ticket no matter who the opponent.

I remember getting $10 tickets on game day all the time during the first 6 or 7 years the new garden was open....   Wish they'd release some cheap tix to the real fans on game days.

To be fair, they've  always kept that last row cheap. Even the Heat game there were 13 dollar seats available. It's a very limited amount, but they could def jack the prices up on those also and they haven't.

I disagree on this one, I think tickets should cost less against teams that aren't marquee matchups.  If I pay $100 to see the Thunder on a Friday night, why should the same seat for a Tuesday game against the Nets cost the same?  You're starting to see more and more teams do adjustments like this, and from an economic standpoint, it makes sense.

I think it's ridiculous.  There aren't even good seats for bad games available, and I prefer my televison to balcony seats.  I'm either going to gamble on scoring some ebay tickets later on, or hope that my aquaintence with great season tickets passes on the tickets for a game or two.

But no thanks to $75 ticket behind a basket in the balcony against a bad team.  I'd rather go to a concert and watch the C's at home.

It costs more because demand is higher. If the Celtics don't charge more, scalpers like Ace tickets will buy the tix and sell them for that premium.

Prices are about supply and demand, not about what any one individual can afford to pay.

There are plenty of real fans who can afford the higher prices.

All I care about is that they can get enough revenue to pay for a competitive team. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Speaking of tickets, where are the best places to go for tickets, outside of the Celtics box office?  Obviously, stubhub and ebay, but where else is reputable?

I'll just throw into the discussion that I got an NBA All-Access e-mail yesterday letting me buy single-game tickets "early" league-wide, but there were three teams for which these "pre-sale" tickets were not available: Celtics, Miami and Fakers.

The Cs are in the ultimate seller's market.  If they had "blown it up" this offseason, it would been very different, financially.  Easy to see why Wyc was willing to open his wallet, signing-wise.

Agree with Moiso that unless your seats are good, you actually get a better view on TV.

I always prefer to go to the games myself. It's fun to be there for the crowd, and it's also a lot easier to see things that happen away from the ball. I remember the first time I saw the KG-Celtics and being absolutely mesmerized by their team defense. I knew it was great, but being able to see the whole court really was amazing.

EDIT: To be fair, I also live on the Medford/Somerville line, so it's not much of a trip for me.

If people want to get tickets at face value PM gooey2500.  He sells tickets to most games at face value.  I bought tickets from him for the playoffs and other games last year and he is reputable.

This year I bought tickets to a C's Bulls game at face value on a friday night.

Check out the ticket forum I can vouch for him.
