Clips are the last to give their presser? Is that pending?

I haven't heard.  I know that during the draft, mgent's availability was limited.

Question for GSW:

Who where the 3 players you thought you could pair with CP3 to make a contender this year?
Greg Oden, Blake Griffin or Manu Ginobili. I was hoping one of those guys would drop to my pick.

If I got Ginobili I was planning on making him my PG and trading Chris Paul.

Wow.  That would have been an interesting debate.

Indeed. I wonder what nick's take on that would have been.

Manu would be an incredibly old injury risk at that point playing out of position, probably  ;).

I think those are mostly accurate.

I would go with

1.LA
2.Sac
3.Phoenix
4.Lac
5.GS/Team of future serious contender

My favorite team here is the Clippers but their lack of center depth make me incredibly nervous and made me have to knock them down.

I really like what LA has here, I think Sac is solid and could def challenge the lakers for that first spot.  And I think Phoenix has one of the better starting 5's but really nothing beyond that.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Interesting.  I think LA's lack of rebounding and front line defense would be a problem for them over the course of a season.  I like their 1 - 3 a lot, though.

And they have some pieces that im a fan of in Chandler, Big Z and Prince.  But as i said Roy I do like Sac town and think they could definitely take that number 1 spot.

Even if you don't agree with my two lottery pick rookies, what about Rudy Fernandez, Terrence Williams and Hedo Turkoglu?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
My problem: Rashard Lewis at the 3. Last season, 'Shard played a total of 2300 and then some minutes. 2100 of those minutes were spent in the top 20 lineups he was in (meaning he was in more than 20 on floor combinations, but in those top 20 he spent the vast majority of his time)

Assuming he spend 150 of those remaining 200 and whateveer minutes at the 3, that means that he spent less than 1% of his time on the floor at the 3 in 2009-2010.

He spent a little more time there in 2008-2009 but still, it was completely and utterly minimized by the time he spent at the 4.

I'm wondering if that was a product of lineups,

(even though often Orlando was forced to start pretty poor starters at the 3 in Pietrus and Barnes, when they have perfectly respectable players like Ryan Andersen or Brandon Bass that could start at the 4, if Shard could start at the 3)

or was it a problem of the fact that Shard just can't guard 3's anymore, and his defensive deficiencies (as he's never been a particularly good defender) were far greater than his waning offensive game?

That begs the next question, if Shard proves playing the 3 as anything more than a novelty, how does the situation at power forward work? I'm assuming that getting Boozer minutes is a priority, but none of those 3 guys can play defense all that well, and Randolph/Lewis duplicate a lot of each others' talents.

Having 3 possible starting PF's is still one of those "good problems" to have, just sayin...

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Who,

After seeing the reaction for Splitter in the draft, do you regret the pick?

Rashard can play the three.  He doesn't play there in Orlando due to its current roster construction and their desire to have four shooters on the floor around Howard.  However, in Seattle Rashard was almost exclusively a small forward, and one of the more athletic ones in the NBA.  It's not like he suddenly lost his athleticism.

I'm a little surprised that SVG doesn't try Ryan Anderson at PF and Rashard at the 3, but I think he likes having one additional defense-oriented player in his starting lineup, whether it be Pietrus or Barnes.  Both guys are decent shooters, and both are pretty good defenders.

Also, neither Rashard nor Boozer is an elite defender, but both were starters on top-10 defenses last year (with Rashard being a big component on an Orlando defense that was 1st in defensive rating in 2009).

BTW, excluding my own team I'd rank them

1. Sacramento Kings
----
2. Los Angeles Clippers
----
3. Golden State Warriors
4. Los Angeles Lakers

As I've stated on a few occasions, that's no slight to any of the teams. Absolutely stacked divison.
