For the sake of keeping things civil, let's use my own players exclusively. Would you be more inclined to play Turkoglu over either Davis/Monroe if the opposing power forward was Antawn Jamison, a guy who could put up points and grabs his boards, though certainly isn't what one would label 'a banger'

That's a matchup you might be able to get away with it.

Come playoff time, what do people think of me giving Turkoglu some minutes at the PF to limit the amount of time my lottery rookies (Greg Monroe & Ed Davis) have to play?

If I was truly the coach of the team, it's not something I'd consider, but seeing as this is, for lack of a better team, a popularity contest I'd float it out there.

Thoughts?

Ignore the naysayers and play your rookies.

Greg Monroe and Ed Davis are quality players who make you a better team.

I am a big believer that my team is being underrated, but there is no way for me to really discuss it till the season starts.

Then, we can see what type of NBA player Wall can be.

Then, we can see how Jefferson does on a playoff level team with a top PG.

Then, we will see how much Hibbert is progressing in year three.

Then, we can see what type of player the other three rookies are.

Till that point, I have only what I think which of course means absolutely nothing in terms of votes.

Ya, like I said, in real life I'd never think of playing Hedo at the 4 over Davis/Monroe. But in understanding the nature of the game (as well as being pret-ty bored at work) I figured I'd throw it out there to gage everyone's thoughts. TP to everybody who answers so far.

I do think Chicago is being greatly underrated.

I see Lebron once again carrying a team to a 55+ win season.

The only team that will stop him is a team with top defense, so I see Toronto, Atlanta and Knicks as team capable of stopping Lebron with team defense.

I see Chicago as a team that not a lot of people are talking about, but I think come playoff team they emerge as a contender. I don't think that neccesarily means they're underrated though.

I do.  Talk about teams without strong team defense being better.

Look who took Lebron out of the playoffs the past 4 seasons.  Everyone of them were defensive teams.

Chicago is pretty good. I think they're a decent team.

I don't know Who. Personally I think you put way, way, way too much stock in rookies and their abilities to make big differences. Especially on teams that are contending or going to the playoffs.

Rookies tend to possibly shine for part of the season and struggle for most of the rest of the season. And they tend not to be huge difference makers in the playoffs. That is even more true of players that are not chosen in the very top of the draft.

Davis might be NBA ready but he might be NBA ready to give what your average 10th player in the league gives. Monroe is very very young could become quite overwhelmed with the physicality of the NBA game.

Or not.

But history shows that very few rookies become real difference making players their first years and that some years, none do that first year.

I'm not so high on too many players in this class doing much this year except Wall, Blake Griffin, Cousins and maybe a guy on a real bad team that is NBA ready like Damion James in New Jersey or someone like that.

You can't count on rookies to help with the votes in this exercise unless you are going for team of the future and have them mixed in with some established 2nd, 3rd and 4th year players.

Since I drafted Davis & Monroe (and actually targeted both on a list of a few players that I said 'no matter what, I need these guys') obviously I'm pretty high on them.

I don't care for Damion James as a player. He's a heck of a shooter, but I think way too often he tries to do more than he's capable of. Reminds me a lot of Jermaine Jones. I think between T-Will, Morrow, Outlaw, Q. Ross and the possibility of Harris & Farmar being on the court at the same time, D. James probably will really struggle to get PT.

But don't you think it's better, on any team, to have a highly skilled, yet unproven rookie playing anywhere betwen 10-20 man than your average 8th-10th guy?

Which team is most underrated right now (besides your own), and why?

Teams at risk of wrongly being left out in the cold? Los Angeles Clippers' roster full of taken-for-granted veterans. I have the team winning the Pacific - if not handily.

The Miami Heat? Easier to understand why the Heat are overlooked. But it's a shame Triangle talk has dominated the discussion around this team. Nash deserves more consideration per usual. Odom and Stephen Jackson baggage-and-all still win games.

The Golden State Warriors.

Which player (besides one on your team) will surprise people the most next season, and how much of an impact will he have on this draft?

I'm excited for Al Jefferson's season.

Co-sign. Certainly rotation worthy

I'd be shocked (but interested) to be pointed in the direction of a draft that produced zero impact rookies. Safe to say, we'll have at least half a dozen NBA starters out of the gates. That's been the modern trend. And even more rotation players. Even if we limit the list to 2010 playoff teams, we're still left to talk about, Jennings, Harden, Lawson, Matthews, Ibaka and Taj Gibson.
