Melo is not a ballhog. If a guy, who's the best scoring option on his team scores a lot, how does that make him a ball hog? Isn't he helping the team then? Or do you think Denver is better off letting K-Mart operate from the post? He does well with Billups, who's a great PG. I'm sure he can do well with Rondo. And i don't know how the argument of "We still can't beat the Heat 3 years from now because we need an all-star big man" has any merit. Will we be able to beat the Heat with Rondo (and Pierce) and Perk?

Objectively, I would do this trade. Not 3 number ones though, i think we can only trade 2 (?). Denver cannot afford to lose Melo to free agency. And signs are pointing to that they will. They currently have a limited winning window with Billups and K-Mart beginning to age. And the number ones are for rebuilding purposes. Pierce though, is signed on longer than they'd probably like but hey, better than Melo walking away and getting nothing next year. At least they have 2 first rounders and still a chance at winning.

If Melo signs an extensions with us, Melo-Rondo would be very good. Melo is an outstanding rebounder. He plays hard and he's a very physical player. Physically gifted too. And he's a great scorer who has a real jumpshot (not those hot-n-cold streaky jumpshots that Lebron has). I don't see how we can turn this down. Can he play D? yes he can play D. Put KG and Perk behind him, as opposed to K-Mart and Nene, and i'm sure his D gets better.

Subjectively, this is a horrible trade. Pierce has been my favorite player. I wouldn't want the Captain to be traded.

I like Melo the player.  I would love for Boston to trade for him.  He would thrive in Boston being feed by Rondo.

But the price, that's way to high.

He wants out of Denver.  Just Pierce.  (Though I would rather trade Ray and a 1st in this case)

PP has more focus in his pinky than Melo will ever have!  Don't want him.

Boston would love Melo. But anyone who trades for him does this with the understanding that he has ZERO incentive to stay and justify whatever is given up for him.

Unless he signs an extension first this discussion is kind of pointless.

Pierce just inked a 4 year deal...he's on the decline. Why would the Nuggets do any deal with us that doesn't center around Rondo? They will trade Mello for youth, athleticism, and expirings.

good point, which is why I think if the c's made a move on him, it'd be Ray (which I doubt) b/c he's an expiring and include Baby and Bradley (assuming he shows some promise) - I think Pierce can still play the 2 if needed, that'd be a sick athletic lineup

Count me as one of the few people on here that loves Carmello...but he'll never be a Celtic, he's got an "Empire State of Mind" and money just would never work out.

Carmelo is a great player and competitor.  I would absolutely love him on our team but it probably will not happen.

He seems to be set on NY at this point.

ZING!  He might mature much like PP did but to me the apple cart would be mighty upset if we traded our CAPTAIN when we are currently the 2nd best team in the nba (see bad calls finals)
I would like carmelo to play out his 2 years (?) then sign with the celtics as PP would be his backup.  BUT Carmelo wants what he wants.  Hopefully he goes to houston and we can get battier!

Yup, he's heading elsewhere one way or another.

If he could be talked into coming to Boston Pierce and 3 picks would be a steal. Sadly Denver would never do that deal.

every trade which can potentially either help the team toward a title now, or give the team long term stability and contendership should be considered; that's Danny's job.
