What Philly was thinking:

They wanted Blake Griffin in their starting lineup, and really wanted a small forward.  They loved Green.  Now, they have a front court featuring Griffin and Green that they can build around.

They're a little weaker at center with the loss of Dampier, but he was never a long-term option anyway.  At least Anderson has some room for growth.

Strangely, Philly got a player they loved (Green), LA got a player they loved (Bargnani), and I got a player that I hate in "real life" (Randolph).

a 3rd, 9th, and 13th for a 4th, 6th, and 10th sounds like the only fair shake out of the whole thing.

i hate when people go back and look at where players where picked. Picks have a really high value when you can pick anybody you want but not after the drafts over. You make trades for better fits to help a team.
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

I agree with this...well I don't agree that "I hate when prople look back", it helps to see how people value other players.

But I do agree that trades after players are picked should be measured solely on how the incoming players help a team vs how the outgoing players helped the team.

Write up your press conference. Or, attack my defensive rankings for not including the sonics.

Why must the best division go first?

Why must the best division go first?

No, the Pacific is going Thursday.

In terms of the order, it was luck of the draw.  The three division teams were ordered randomly in each conference, and the Eastern Conference was randomly decided to go first, using complicated methods involving a dime.

Or, the Cosmic Draft Gods decided that in a division with five such talented and charming owners, short notice wouldn't be a huge problem.   ;D

I think we're looking at something a lot like last year.

GMs rank all the teams in the conference, 1 through 14.  They do NOT place their own team.  Ballots are sent to Fafnir, who collates them, to determine playoff seeding, 1 - 8 in each conference.

It's not a "round", per se.  It's just a chance for people to get in their ballots in a timely manner, and to give Faf time to put them together.
