I'm bored.  I'm opening the Sacramento Kings up to trades:

C: Dampier / Bargnani
PF: Boozer
SF: Lewis / Jefferson
SG: Garcia
PG: Rose

Goals:

1.  The Kings have to stay competitive in the short term;

2.  The Kings are willing to trade excellent players for multiple good ones.

Is this really a good idea if you aren't actually taking over the team?

The Commissioner's Office has owned the team for several rounds now.  To help preserve the integrity of the game, I'm trying to field a roster that has more than 7 rotation-caliber players.

The Kings still have 4 more picks I think. That's what the last GM decided was best for his team.

Trading off his best players for some good players doesn't make his team more or less competitively balanced.

I just think the Commissioner's office deciding where the Kings best players can be traded to and what is a viable trade for them isn't in the best interest of the league as a whole.

There are still a good number of players available who are capable of being rotation players. If the Kings have four picks left, I think you can flesh out that roster well enough.

I wouldn't be trying to trade for depth. Just talent.

What about talented depth?

The upgrade over the current options (depth) vs the downgrade to your core or starters ... would decide that. Depends on the specifics.

Overall though, I would expect to be able to build a better squad by picking talent still available in the draft.
