I'd contest that Diddy's chucking ways have developed by being on a bad team which stylistically was a poor fit for him.
He's always been a chucker though no matter what team he's been on.

Baron Davis's chucking ways were developed way back when he was playing for the Hornets under Paul Silas. The early part of this past decade. He isn't shaking those bad habits.

Still a quality player though because of his playmaking, floor leadership, defense and rebounding.

8 assists per game doesn't really seem like a full-on-chucker.

courtesy ball don't lie:

Quote
10. Baron Davis(notes), Los Angeles Clippers (last year: 21st)

A jump to 21st to 10th shouldn't really give anyone room for pause, it has less to do with how improved Baron was in 2009-10 (though he was) than how ruddy awful he was in 2008-09. Last year, the man's defense came and went, his shot selection from behind the arc (3.9 attempts per game, shooting just 27.7 percent) was terrible, and he still seemed to coast when the Clippers needed him most. Still, 15.3 points and eight assists and why did I rank him this high, again? Blake Griffin's(notes) in town, Baron, let's get this together.

appologies to Kaman.... a good option on offense.

my last thought on Davis --- the chucking is part of who he is... and that "who he is" has led teams into the playoffs before LAC. Call it mojo, intangibles, some teams need that.

And a guy like DwHoward could really benefit from having an "alpha dog" at the point.

I wasn't saying Davis should have been a top 10 pick but am surprised he lasted this long.

I just question whether his head will ever get in the right place.

I'd contest that Diddy's chucking ways have developed by being on a bad team which stylistically was a poor fit for him.

If I had Baron with LeBron and Amare I'd argue that the bearded one's play recently is a product of being tired of having to break his back just to make his team competitive every night, and being on a team where others can handle the scoring burden will make him actively give it his all on a more regular basis.

While I'd argue that Mike Dunleavy is a poor coach, who needlessly hand-cuffed his rolling stone point guard to a overly deliberate half-court offense and the thickest play book in the league.

But his shot selection does leave a lot to be desired. Guy loves the heat check. Still, great size, strength and quickness, dangerous in the open court, sees the floor well, strong rebounder...

The Gorillaz select

Baron Davis

absolutely unbelievable he lasted this long. I thought a lot about taking him and pairing him with Westbrook in the backcourt but just couldn't bring myself to. IMO Davis is far better than the last about 1/2 dozen PGs taken.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/davisba01.html

I don't see it. He's too often injured our check out at this stage of his career. his last two years have varied between bad to below average. The talent is still there but 25% usage on a player with TS% of .500 or worse? Yuck!!!

for us old skoolers/non-sabermatricians.... what is usage and why is 25% bad?!?

It means he keeps others from shooting because he's always using the ball, but he doesn't make enough shots/ft's to justify it.
There are only 4 players in the NBA with a higher usage who shoot worse:

Russell Westbrook
Brandon Jennings
[censored]
[censored]

The two censored players have yet to be taken, but aren't very good. I don't think they should be picked until next week.

Jennings is a rookie at least, and Westbrook brings a lot more size, defense, and other things to the table.

And Jennings hit the rookie wall like at a thousand miles an hour only to recover and lead his team to a seventh game against the hawks.
