Jeez guys money isn't everything. Yea he is a wealthy guy, but just because someone is rich doesnt mean they dont have the same feelings you or I do. He's not that old, he clearly loves Boston and the Celtics and feels he could still contribute. In that aspect I feel bad for the guy, though he may be limited talent-wise he still put his heart and soul into this team every time he was on the floor. Even when most of our fans embarass him with all the chanting they do.

I mean really, chanting scalabrine when we're getting blown out may seem funny but it's really kinda messed up. You're saying 1 of 2 things 1) He is so amazingly talented that you feel if he gets in the game he'll get us the win (obviously this is sarcasm, which is really pretty messed up when you think about it. They might as well chant scalabrine sucks) or 2) you're blaming him somehow which is just silly.

No ill feelings on my end.  I've been looking forward to this for five years now, so please don't ruin my joy! :)

I'm willing to bet I am just as happy a person and as content with my life as Scalabrine is, and i'm no millionaire.

And if were let go by my job because they said I just wasn't good enough after 5 years of service i'd take it pretty hard, even if it was true.

Fire Donny and give the telejob to Scal.  Keep it in the Celtic family just because a guy played at Ucon does make me like Donny.  Another red head to follow Tommy.

i don't feel bad for him. If you look at it from another perspective, wouldn't you feel bad for Luke Harangody? He gets cut because the Celtics have sentimental value for Scal. Nevermind that he played hard in college for 4 years, and seemed to be a good enough fit for the C's. I mean, he saw his dreams of playing in the NBA potentially becoming a reality when he was drafted in the 2nd round, and to have that taken away just because management has a soft spot for Scal?? that's a tough break.

I'd like to see him stay with us in some capacity. Lord knows I'll miss the guy if we can't somehow get him back.

I think he could've made a bigger case for himself if not for those darn concussions the last couple of years, poor guy. He had like 3 of those?

It always seemed to me that right as he would hit his stride as a starter or rotation player, he would then get a concussion, and once he did, it would take him out for like 2 months.

I wonder if they were real concussions or take one for the team concussions sometimes.  Once your concussion prone, your always going to be concussion prone.

If I were the Mavericks, I'd sign him (if he accepted) to a deal for the league minimum and see if we could recapture some of that Kidd-to-Scal magical moments once again.

Scal might be a nice guy, but he's stolen enough NBA money over these last 5 years.  If he's such a great locker room guy and has this off-the-charts BB IQ, then coaching should be his next step.

He's not a good basketball player, and let's be honest: he was being mocked and ridiculed here.  I think it's best that he moved on because there's no longer a role or a need for him here...

I don't feel sorry for Scal, his contract hurt this team, the last 2 yrs. His physique, skills, and IQ did not demand that salary. Although, he did prove himself when healthy, and proved why Rondo loves playing with him with smart, winning plays. No joke,I trust him more than Baby(yeah I said It). Also, no teammate gets more involved and visible in the community than him. Good teammate, smart player, but concussions may scare teams off.

  • You say when......
You feel bad for scal....do you feel bad for bernie madoff too..? Scal MADEOFF with 15 mill for doing nothing, no return on the investment.....Never came back from his millionaire summmer with any improvements, never got in better shape, never had any stats to show for his money, he was paid to sit in the best seats in the house, the seats that people pay big money to sit at, he has a ring, which many REAL players will never get, like barkley, ewing...ect....

If anything, you could feel bad that he didn't have the mental capacity to realize this was his chance to prove that he is a player. practice, learn, run, take advantage of the shooting coaches, ray allen, kg's inside stuff, scal is like a guy who was paid to go to MIT, and didn't learn to do basic math...! Poor little rich boy, no one wants you. You want him on the team, but you wouldn't want him ON YOUR TEAM, would you. When would you put the novelty act in..? Ahead of your real players? Ahead of the young developing talent or hopefulls, no, why..? How about halftime, with the green guy, heck, scal wouldn't even rebound for him, he would be over in that dern corner, waiting for the ball again...!

I think it would be wiser to find and sign a young 6'9" guy, who has potential, and is a bit raw-college trained forward, who will run and get into the mix...develop him, with the pro's, and make him into a player...at least he will want it. An unsigned draft guy..the has to be 1000 of them, just from this year alone. How many big forwards played in the collge ranks last year , seniors.....why not one of them for small $$$......or does the nba ever develop guys out of their developmental league..? Or does only baseball really do this.....I don't get that....some of those guys must have skills...? right?
