Perkins along with Sheed's contract.

In theory could we get a 10mil/yr calibre guy?

Lets just say for arguments sake that our team somehow dominates without perk and maybe erden turns out to be a good 3rd guy.

Could we package Perk with Sheeds contract to get an even better (more expensive) player.

Not trying to dis perk, i love the guy... just throwin out a hypothetical

Tayshaun Prince

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!  i would do that in a mili-second!!

I actually think Perk may in jeopardy from the O'Neal at times.  I've always loved Prince as he is competative and a scrappy player.

I would trade it for a lottery pick next year.

I dont see Perkin being traded at all, I see him and Rondo as the future of the Celtics

I think that might be in doubt aftrer the knee injury.

And Danny suggested at the J.O. conference that if he plays well this could end up being more than a two year commitment.

I love Baby and I love Perk.  I'd like both of them to be on the team in the future.

Here's the problem.

Right now, we only have 27 million on the books for the summer of 2012.  In today's NBA landscape, that would be enough for two max players.

If we have BBD and Perk on the payroll by then--and likely at higher deals--all of the sudden things fall apart.

And while I'd like to believe BBD's status as a bench player and Perk's injury will keep their salaries down, that may not be the case.

Thus, if someone offers Perk 8-10 million per year over 4-5 years and someone offers BBD 5-7 million over the same amount, will Danny match?  More importantly, now that BBD isn't a free agent, will he simply want to leave?  He could start on other teams, something he won't do here until at least 2012-2013.

So yes, it's nice to say that we'd like to keep both of them.  However, if we could add an elite 2/3 guy like Tayshaun Prince, I'd consider trading one of them, preferably Perk.

While it'd be nice to have him, there's a shot that he doesn't even make it back this year.  If that's the case, we might never see him in green again.  And if we can make a big time upgrade for this year with his deal, I'd strongly consider it.

Prince is the much better option.  We need a defensive 3 much more than a shooting 2 at this point.

I may be new here but... why in the hello would you try and trade one of the best REAL (defensive) centers in the league? Ask around (although he's underrated), his D is about the best your going to get these days (centers), unless you get Howard by some miracle!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Perk turns 26 this year.  That means he'll be just 28 with at least 4 or 5 quality seasons left in him when rebuilding starts in 2 years.  You always wish you could have an all-star at every position, but look around at who other teams have at center.

Someone more expensive, but not much better than if we just traded Sheed's contract.

Perkins has little to no value right now.  It makes absolutely zero sense to trade him.  He has much more value on the court, and then either sign and traded, or signed next offseason, when he is healthy again, than traded before the deadline, when he may not have even stepped on the court yet.

How do you know that Perkins has little to no trade value right now? He's young and has proven to be maybe the best post defender in the NBA for the past couple years. Teams may see this as a chance to pry him away from us and put in place a building block for years to come. The Miami boards already are speculating and would love the 2-5 of Dwade, Bron, Bosh, Perk. Perkins would fit in perfectly with the young core of the Thunder. I would guess Perkins is probably one of our more valuable pieces still.

I do like the Tayshaun idea. I think he would be the perfect backup wing. I think he has become very underrated around the league. He is a really intelligent player, a proven winner, does all the little things, he's basically a super James Posey. Tayshaun for Sheed and Baby works. Would Detroit consider it if we threw in a pick or two. I think he would be worth it. They have no chance of winning soon, so they'll trade Prince by the deadline. They'll probably want to hold on and see what they can get for him later, but 2 picks and baby and Sheed's cap relief isn't a bad coup. Then our team would really be unbelievable.

Rondo/ Nate / Bradley / Daniels
Ray / Wafer / Daniels /Bradley
Pierce / Tayshaun / Daniels
Garnett / Jermaine / Tayshaun / Harangody
Perkins / Shaq / Jermaine

Prince would be perfect to defend Odom, Rashard, and other stretch fours at times.

True.  But I wonder how high other teams will go with offers next summer and how far Danny will go in matching.

Given that we could lose Perk or BBD next year and that we could have a glut at the 4/5 spot, I would consider trading one of them to get more depth at the 2/3.  But I'd only do that for a Tayshaun type.  Rudy Fernandez wouldn't be enough for me to part with either.

Especially give where we usually draft as well.  Its hard to add bigs when drafing in the 20a.

I Want you all to REMEMBER this POST :P

Because,  I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen prior to the trade deadline, if both O'Neal's are playing well.
Danny secretly covets a different Center.  Hence, the Perkins trade rumors and inquiries this past year.

Danny respects Perk's role, however he also knows that the signing price is going to go up barring re-injury.  Don't be surprised if Perk is dealt for a player and a future pick.

Still not my ideal trade, but if Perk shines this year, we could always lose him to a team looking to overpay a Center
Dallas, Twolves, etc

Prince,Maxiell and Wilcox for Sheed,BBD and Gafney/Laffayete

Rondo - Nate
Ray - Wafer - Marquis
Pierce - Prince - Harangody
KG - Maxiell - Wilcox
Shaq - JO - Erdin

Have them add us some draft picks and I'd consider it
Can't stop, Rondo!

perk will not be a part of the future, im sorry.
Perk is only a starter because of the big 4, once the big 3 are gone you will see how hard it is to score in the NBA. To win in the NBA you need a threat down low, perk is not that!
