One thing for sure, two things for certain, Chris Bosh is not to be feared.

Shaq is 100% done as a positive difference-maker. In fact, he makes you a worse team when he's on the floor than if you'd just played a role player who defends a little better.
Not much different from what I've been saying all week.

Dude we get it. I don't even have chance to follow half the threads on here and I know how you feel about shaq. Give it a rest. I respect your opinion, but you really don't need to throw it on every thread. A lot of people are excited about the signing for the vet minimum and you are not gonna change my opinion or others, just like we won't change yours....

Smokescreen.  Miami is jealous that they didn't get Shaq back.  They need another center.  Like I've been saying, C's signing Shaq is a benefit if only to keep him away from the team that needed him most and is the top competition for the C's in the East.  Brilliant move.

TP, CC ... Shaq's got plenty left, and the fact is, (for those who think he's "done" and can make no positive difference), that he is now a Celtic, like it or not, and all the bashing and doubting in the world is not going to change that. The best thing that the "realists" can do, is wait until it's been proven somehow that he has nothing to add, and then say "I told you so".

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and my personal one is that he'll be great in green, but until he's been here a while and had a chance to prove himself, (or not), it's just all conjecture. Done is done, so why not support the team and Shaq's addition, until something happens that proves your point, whichever way it may lean.

I hated Sheed before he came here, and hated his addition, but when it happened I welcomed him and supported him and prayed that he would prove me wrong and add something positive to the team. Shaq is now a Celtic ... let's try to give him the benefit of the doubt, if nothing else.

As for Miami, no way this gets them Perk ... and it's not even a realistic expectation for their fans. I think they're riding a huge wave of euphoria, and when the season starts, reality will keep them in check. ;)

I read through the Heat forum and all of the things they say about Shaq are pretty much true.  He doesn't defend the screen/roll very well, he is a horrible free throw shooter, he tends to create controversies with his mouth, and he is fat.

In spite of all of that, I am happy he is here to pick up Perk's minutes while he is out and then provide depth if/when Perk is back at full strength.  I don't get the "he will make our team worse" concerns.  Worse than what? Worse than if we play Davis at Center?  Ok, then Doc will play Davis at Center and not Shaq.  Worse than "Ka-Wammmaa Brown" (think Steven Smith); worse than Shelden Williams; I don't know about that.

Perk managed 27.6 minutes per over 78 games.  That is a lot of minutes.  Rasheed pitched in 22.5 minutes per 79 games.  That is 50 minutes to replace, primarily between the two O'Neals.

I think we need Shaq and that Doc will be able to coach him and get him doing the things we need him to do; defend, rebound, and finish when he has the chance to.

Obviously nothing is going to check the fact that we signed Shaq. Hopefully, he will be utilized properly, in which case that won't be a problem.

Just to clarify, a positive difference maker from me is someone who can give you strong ~20 minutes without setting the team back. Based on what I saw from the Cavs last season, I don't think Shaq is that person. Contributor? Sure. Difference-maker? Not by a long shot.

As for going to Miami... I don't think Miami fans have any reasons to be jealous. I am sure Shaq would have been ecstatic to join them for the vet minimum, but it seems that he wasn't wanted there. You can speculate whether LeBron hates him, whether it's his declining skills, or whether the organization doesn't want anything to do with him, but this is indicative of something. What I don't get is the general euphoria from signing Shaq, but I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

From those highlights Bosh's defense was horrible.

Anyone who thinks Perk is worth more than the MLE is crazy. Above mid level players have to have multiple skills. They can't just be really good at only one thing.

Perk is a complete offensive liability. But, unfortunately, he would fit absolutely perfectly in Miami, so I would expect them to make a serious offer.

They don't need him to ever touch the ball, they just need him to set some good screens, rebound, and defend the interior. Three things he is very, very, very good at.

We can't let it happen, if nothing more than to make sure the Heat don't get him, they need to resign him. I'd call it right now, Perk on that team makes them nearly unbeatable.

What are Branden Haywood's multiple skills? What are Bargnani's multiple skills? What are Lamrcus Aldrige's mutiple skills? What are Corey Maggette's mutiple skills? What are Erik Dampier's mutiple skills? What are Rashard Lewis' multiple skills?

Jermaine O'Neil is a MLE player. James Posey is an MLE player. Matt Carroll is an MLE player. Desagna Diop is an MLE player.

You don't think Perk is worth more on the open market? He's the best Dwight Howard defender in the game. That alone will make him worth more.

He's not a great defender and he is not a banger.  He's a finesse big like Pau Gasol... put Gasol on Shaq and it will be the same.  But that's the thing, Bosh isn't a C and had no inside help on the Raptors.

Not saying he didn't get embarrased some giving up that much to Shaq, but I'll give him some slack there.  He should not be asked to cover Shaq.  KG would almost never, and he's a great defender.  He would also be unable to.  That's just not his position.
