Eek...  10 days of trade discussions or so?  It will be interesting to see the teams that doom themselves from the start (i.e., a 1st, 2nd, 3rd to move up to the top-five), or the teams that make a series of trades to dominate the draft.

The only advice I'd give to GMs -- especially the newbies -- is don't be too trade-happy until you see what the value on the board is.

No trades may be made official until I've set out the rules. Even then I'll probably have a smaller window before the draft.

Any pre-Draft trade ideas can be deferred to:

I'm not a fan of trading picks before the draft.  The unknown, is to unknown for me.  I'm especially iffy on the concept since my famed "trade the first rounder to move up in the next 14 rounds" strategy of a few years ago.  That one didn't work out so well (for me anyhow...Roy enjoyed the results just fine).

Yep.  You were like the amateur boater that ignored the coast guard warning about a hurricane and go out anyways.

I like early trade talk.  It gives you a feel of what poster think of trade value thus making better trade offers later.

I think it's going to be interesting to see how people react to the top picks.  I think both Lebron and Howard are a little tarnished, and there's always a bias against Kobe.  Among the top picks, perhaps only Durant and Wade (maybe) are considered more highly than last year.

I agree.  I feel like a team with Kobe on it would be considered less favorable on this blog compared to an identical team with Wade in place of Kobe even though Kobe is the better player.
The problem with your logic is that Wade is a much better player than Kobe Bryant. He's a better defender, scores at a higher rate, scores more efficiently, gets more assists, and gets to the line more.

Kobe's athleticism has declined a lot in the past three seasons and Wade has clearly surpassed him.

I must say, my instant reaction was to laugh, but you're points are solid (except I don't believe Wade's a better defender).  I still believe Kobe is the better overall player also.  Yes, Kobe's athleticism has declined and Wade has surpassed him in terms of athleticism, but Kobe no longer relies completely on athleticism.  He's relies mostly on craftiness and bball IQ, I'd say.  I think he's still above Wade in terms of those 2.  Unfortunately, you can disagree if you'd like and there are no statistics to prove either side.  I think Kobe is the best closer in the game too.  All very subjective points by me though.

Who cares about craftiness when you can just blow by a guy and get to the rim, or the line. Wade has been the more productive player than Kobe for a number of years now.

Kobe hits more difficult shots, Wade gets more easy shots. Why shoot a fade away two when you can dunk?

Nets is not that bad. We have a russian billionaire as an owner, coolest person on earth as a fan - Bruce Willis and a bright future. As long as I don't need to actually go to Jersey - I'm good  :)

28 pick sucks.

I-P! BOOMAYE! I-P! BOOMAYE!

Oh it is a whole different game this year.

Anyone who wants to move up to number 1, send me your trade proposals which I will look at in my own time, and share the bad ones as fodder for laughing about with my friends.

The Bobcats are willing to entertain good trade offers or funny jokes. TPs for making him think or laugh.

The Piston's are willing to listen to offers for their 1st and 2nd picks.

Just understand it will take a lot to move them this early in the process.

The Boxers are willing to trade their first round pick and are taking offers. All offers have to start with your 2nd and 3rd rounders with the Boxers giving back a later pick. Expand upon that all you want and PM me.
