The second best Central may make up for what it lacks in managerial prowess and talent evaluation with star power

So, who still has a shot at the 1st pick? Atlanta, Chicago, Indiana, New York, and Phoenix. Is that right?

The Eastern Conference is going to be a lot stronger this season.

Four of the top five in the East, wow. It'll be interesting in the SW, where you have Dallas top 6 and the rest of us picking later. Be interesting to see the idea of Superstar versus Depth play out.

After seeing their draft position, what do people think of the "modified snake" format?

I think it should help even things out, and will give the teams with lesser first rounders some real trade chips to build deep squads.

I don't feel shafted with my draft position at all.

I can't argue with a top5 pick for the second straight year.

After seeing their draft position, what do people think of the "modified snake" format?

I think it should help even things out, and will give the teams with lesser first rounders some real trade chips to build deep squads.

I think it will help even out the talent "league"-wide and most importantly gives all 30 teams a legit shot if they play their cards right (i think it was much harder for picks 20-30 last year)... and think that it's great to try. Little wrinkles like that will always help.

But I must say that picking high brings it's own challenges (having had the #1 pick last year). A LOT of talent goes off the board between 1.1 and 2.30, waiting again to 3.30 this year is a lot more talent gone...

(of course trading can (and we think in ORL last year did) help mitigate that, but it's not like anyone didn't look at players 2-12 just b/c we had Lebron... I think if anything, there's a natural inclination to be MORE critical of a team with a top-5 talent).

And the central debate in both Celticsblog drafts is who would win --- a deep team with lesser high-end talent or a shallower team with more big-time stars. I doubt that will go away with this system....

just my 2 cents.

Maybe next year we'll try a lottery-per round!! It's all ubuntu, Celticsblog Draft is back baby!
