This thread is to gauge interest in the annual Celticsblog Draft

-Draft starts August 16th, The first week will be 5 rounds one per day with a casual coaches round over the weekend. The second week will have 2 rounders per day.

- Past owners will be given priority on participating and priority on their previous teams. To get a team you must be in good standing with regards to posting behavior and draft activity.

- I reserve the right to ask that any GM take on a co-GM in the interest of maximal participation or in the interest of keeping the draft moving smoothly.

- The franchises that are open due to attrition will be filled with others who show interest and will be determined by myself and other staff.  Preference will be given to those who are active on the blog and have been in the past.  Post count is not the be all, end all but will contribute to our decisions.

- If you have participating in the past send me a PM and let me know if you'd like your team back! If you'd like to change your team take a look at the list below and PM me.

Official rules will follow soon there are going to be many changes here's the quick preview:

1. I will be the Commissioner and Roy Hobbs will be my co-commissioner .

2. Teams will be randomly scrambled

3. We will be going to a modified snake draft where if you picked last in the first round you will receive the first pick in the second and third rounds. This is to help counteract the inherent advantage of getting a "superstar" with a pick at the the top of the first round.

4. We are reducing rosters down to  13 due to lack of timely participation during the last day.

The Boxers would be more than willing to take on an assistant general manager.

Correct, we randomize the draft order and every team starts with just a name and a GM.

I am definitely in and ready to take people down.  My preference is that we start August 16th, but i understand if that is not reasonable for everybody.  Going on vacation the week before.

Also just some thoughts.

- We should have some time to work on trades as well as draft strategy once the draft order is set.

-I also liked the idea from last time that trades couldnt be official until a couple days before the draft.

-Im down for the hard cap at 12 or 13 players, the last rounds usually lack activity and players just sell their picks for tp's.

-and finally it may be good to get a definite rule with regards to veto's prior to the draft starting.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

What would a definitive rule look like?

Listen Roy, I just suggest things i don't think them all the way through!

But in all seriousness maybe something like base it on a vote of other managers.  I mean thats how Yahoo fantasy sports does it, but timing wise i know that can be tough.

Or just a rule that their will not be any vetos unless it is found out that a player is undermining the game.  Two GM's working together.

i haven't talked to Lucky 17 about it but while we were co-GMs last year -- and enjoyed the experience -- i"m pretty sure he was gonna GM his own team this year.

we've both been supremely active each year (and try to keep things peaceful)

fwiw, i must say having a co-gm actually makes it more time consuming since you have to run things by each other

Big difference, Yahoo doesn't do trades during the draft.

With time constraints, I have no issue letting Fafnir (along with his yes man helping him) make the decisions.  It is a thankless job but they will keep the draft moving forward.
