The guy is really athletic, he hustles, plays defense, he's 7 feet tall and he's only 24 years old. He reminds me alot of Pau Gasol actually.

the guy doesn`t look (and certainly isn`t) anything like Gasol. Any Gasol. even their long lost 7f clumsy bother!

Come on, of course he does: he's tall, white, and European!

Still, while I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, I think Ainge's claim that "we're comfortable with Semih playing backup minutes" is more posturing with free agents and other teams than how he really feels.

Lol at Greenbean for pointing out that any semi-talented player can put together a highlight real for Youtube.  And Semih has only a few 10 second clips by comparison  ::)

I agree with the guy that posted this.  Wy aren't we talking more about a guy that is lucky just to be in the league?

Didn't Ainge say that Erden is "CAPABLE of playing backup minutes"?

There's a big difference.

Ainge hyped up Juri Welch for months before getting a 1st round pick for him.

But summer league is a different style of play, not really condusive to big men, so maybe Ainge thinks a little Clifford Ray could help.

Before Coach Ray got his hands on him, I don't recall Perkins looking like much of anything either.  Since Perkins is out for a year, Coach Ray needs a project to focus on.  Who knows, maybe Ray sees something in him.  Maybe just the Challenge of turning potential into something productive.  :D     Knock yourself out Ray.

I think it's because most people haven't seen enough of him. What I saw in the SL I'm not talking about because as my nanny always said if you have nothing positive to say don't say anything.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Perkins was 18. Erden is 24.
