Well first off I was hoping to hear some opinions of people who have seen more than just a couple of youtube video's like I have. I have only been on this site for a month or two and I hadn't seen anyone mention his name.

We could talk about what our team would look like if Semih turned out too be ok and all of a sudden we had a 7-footer.

You could talk about his low points, his high points, his potential or lack-thereof. Maybe compare him to other players if you could think of any he resembled.

I didnt know anything about the guy... thats why I asked.

So clearly i've learned that he's never shown signs of being very good.

Since when is asking questions of a forum discussion such a stupid thing to do?

Jeez the guy is a 24 year old rookie.. why so quick to brush him off?

You know more about basketball than Danny Ainge?

No, no we don't. But your question wasn't 'hey, any chance this guy could pan out,' it's 'why aren't we talking about him?' And from the limited amount we've seen him play, he's looked horrendous. And all signs point to the fact that he wont' pan out.

You yourself have pointed out that you've only seen a couple clips online.

What exactly would you like for us to comment on?

Why argue semantics with me?

How is asking why we're not talking about him all that different than asking if he's any good?

By asking "Why we werent talking about him" I was asking you to share what you knew of him, because I knew nothing more than 3-4 youtube clips.

And this thread is 4 pages long, you're way late to the party.
You ask what is there to talk about. Well apparently there was 4 pages worth talking about.

Based on what I saw in summer league, I think the dude has some potential.

He looks pretty athletic for his size with some decent skills.  I'm thinking he makes the roster and gives a positive contribution this upcoming season.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Yea I know there's not alot to look at on the web, but I saw him with nice spins off of screens catching balls in the air and dunking. He goes after the ball like a hound and gets blocks and he did win the euro championship with his team.

Seems to me Euro ball is more suited to shooters and small guards. With the NBA size is obviously more important, maybe in a new system (and once he can speak english, which is a huge disadvantage to his game atm) he will be able to improve.

I'm not sayin he's the nexy Robert Parish, but lets at least give the guy a chance

I really don't think we need anyone to tell us that he's a bum enough people have done that already.

He is on the team, let's embrace him.

simple: he sucks

rather talk about Harangody or Bradley as far as incoming Celtic-youth. Erden is a waste of a roster spot.

You ask what is there to talk about. Well apparently there was 4 pages worth talking about.

It was 4 pages of people making jokes about how awful he has seemed in the summer league, including me posting a picture of a pig pile to emphasize how bad it was getting.

My comments weren't meant as malicious, just that you seemed to ask for people's opinion, then got awfully upset over people's assesment that he has seemed like an absolutely terrible player. I've seen 2 Vegas games and he often has seemed like the worst player on the floor.

To me, that's just homerism. I understand people want to root for all Celtics players, but when having a real discussion, you can't be biased. If you're judging him based on his play overseas and in the Summer League, he CLEARLY is not an NBA-ready player.

I really don't think we need anyone to tell us that he's a bum enough people have done that already.

He is on the team, let's embrace him.

This isn't high school and the NBA is a performance business. He won't be on the club when the regular season starts.

didn't Ainge just say that he expects Semih to contribute off the bench this year. It looks like he will be on the team when the season starts, and in the court too.

Well the fact that you put "clearly" in bold letters proves your point beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Did he sign a contract yet?  Don't assume anything with Ainge.  If that POR deal goes ahead and we get Prysbilla, I bet Erdin gets cut.  I will "embrace" him if he's on the opening night roster, not before.
