Why aren't we spending more time talkin about Semih?

When I first heard he was signed I just listened to everyone say how much of a scrub this guy was so I never really looked into his game.

Well I was sitting here, bored, looking up youtube video's when I decided to take a look at Semih.

The guy is really athletic, he hustles, plays defense, he's 7 feet tall and he's only 24 years old. He reminds me alot of Pau Gasol actually.

Now I did see some bad plays where he made stupid decisions and turned the ball over... But i've seen everyone in the NBA do the same thing a million times.

Obviously he needs some polish, and needs to start competing against real NBA players, but this kid looks like he could have alot of potential, even as a backup PF on occasion because he's a hell of a lot faster than your average 7 footer.

Someone explain to me why we arent even taking a look at this guy (as fans of course, obviously he's signed)

He didn't really produce or play all that much over-seas, and very often players who dominate over-seas competition are merely solid role players in the NBA.  A low-impact player in a Turkish league isn't likely to make any impact in the NBA.

But we'll see.  I think the main reason nobody is talking about Semih is because hardly anybody has seen him play (other than the summer league games - and he was unimpressive).

simple: he sucks

rather talk about Harangody or Bradley as far as incoming Celtic-youth. Erden is a waste of a roster spot.

He was incredibly underwhelming in summer league and thats the only time anybody has seen him play.  So what's there to talk about?

I saw literally one play all summer league where he showed some Pau Gasol-esque quickness with getting the ball up to the hoop for a nice finish.  One.  And I was impressed with it, I saw potential.  But seriously, it was against weak competition in summer league and I saw it happen once over like 4 games.  He was underwhelming the rest of the time.  There's just very little to reasonably expect from him when he's up against the pros.

the guy doesn`t look (and certainly isn`t) anything like Gasol. Any Gasol. even their long lost 7f clumsy bother!

Because I saw absolutely nothing about him I liked this summer. We've been through Danny's Summertime Scrub Collecting before - see O'Blount, Paddy - and we know how that worked out.

You actually saw one good play?  I must have missed it, lol.

I really wonder what Danny sees in this guy.  He just recently stated that he thinks Semih can provide backup big man minutes.  Sounds like he's at least got an invitation to training camp.

Because until he proves otherwise, he is the 14th or 15th man.  So that doesn't leave a whole lot to talk about until we see more of him.

I have a feeling we will get plenty of Semih talk in September during the World Championships.

Gotta agree with DL, here. The guy's a stiff. What is there to talk about? I saw him in the Summer League and he look lost and outmatched. How exactly does that translate into something to talk about?

He was the worst of the Celtics big in summer league.  Gaffney, Art, Harangody... all those guys were more impressive.  There must be something there we haven't seen but I'm not sure what it is.

Well, he seemed to have a nice stroke on his free throws. But then again, so does my 5'9" 15 year old son, so I guess that doesn't say much.
