No.  I don't think we can win it all with that this year and I don't think that Paul coming here guarantees any future titles, particularly when he could walk in 2012.

What do you mean: guarantees any future titles? Does such a guarantee exist? Paul will have to agree to sign an extention with any team that trades for him....

In a nutshell, I think there's a greater chance we win a title with KG next year than with Paul ever.

Correct. One team in the NBA wins the championship. You think the Cs organization should settle for "pretty good"? Think that's how they won 17 championships?
They certainly didn't do it by pulling off crazy trades that make the team worse.

Yes -- it would be rather difficult to win championships by making your team worse.

Historically, the Celtics have made plenty of aggressive trades that have contributed to them winning championships. If you think this trade makes the Celtics worse, so be it. But the Cs weren't able to win last year, and the team has not improved this offseason while a number of other teams have. So I've no problem with the idea being thrown out there, particularly when it involves one of the best players in the NBA.

The reality is of course that the Cs won't trade Garnett or Paul Pierce -- at least not yet. Hard to imagine Ray being traded either. Clearly Wyc's objective is to continue to take the odds that this team can find a way to get over the top despite their narrowing window of age.

I think there's a fairly good chance the Cs could win next year, but it's less of a chance than this past year. With that said, 1) I disagree with your position, and 2) this trade isn't happening any way.

But less of chance of winning than last year isn't good news with the Heat around.

And I agree, it isn't happening.

What makes Paul more likely to win a future title (after the next year or two) here better than it would be in NO?

I love how some celtics fans are so greedy. To even suggest a trade where we get back Paul, Okafor, Posey, and Rudy is absurd considering what we have to offer.

I think it's just as likely that people here would be surprised at the warts these players have that weren't noticed from afar.

No because we have no shot w/o Garnett and w/ Okafor and Rondo and Paul may not be equals but, on Boston Rondo is the better player.

No chance of happening anyway due to there being no need for Rondo in NO.

But a fun discussion, no doubt.

Pauls never won anything, FYI.
That is why I said there would need to be a third team.

FYI, Lebron James has never won anything either, but I'd take him over Paul Pierce any day of the week.  Winning in basketball is about the team, not the individual.  Sure the individual can control winning a lot more in basketball then any other team sport, but you still have to have a team to win.

I agree and we have a winning team already.

We lost last year.

So according to you, there's only one winning team in the NBA? Great reasoning...

That is a very very very limited view of the game (I'm getting nicer as I get older).  I read the trade and I mentioned we have no chance of winning so I rejected it due to that the fact they we have a PROVEN winning formula.

Again Chris Paul has won nothing in the league and Okafor is bad w/ a horrible contract and Posey is done, fyi.

Well of course but, while they aren't here, they 'could' be that missing ingredient to getting us through that final 5 mins of game 7...

It's easy to come up with possible "fixes" to get us through the end of game 7. The problem is that you first have to *get* to that game 7.

Oh well yes if you plan on throwing logic around you might find a few holes in these trade ideas.  Can someone addd BBD to the next trade to prevent his lack of defense from causing LA to score over 82 pts in game 7 in LA.

I'll go for that. :D

Okafor and Perkins are pretty similar players.  And Okafor essentially has the contract Perkins is going to get next summer and Okafor isn't coming off of a major knee injury.
