I believe there needs to be a third team to take Rondo for this to really work since I'm not sold N.O. wants Rondo, but it does work trading Paul, Okafor, and Posey for Rondo, Garnett, and Sheed.

Here are a couple of three team ideas.

Boston receives - Paul, Okafor, Posey

Indiana receives - Rondo, Julian Wright

New Orleans receives - Garnett, Granger, Sheed

Another Idea

Boston receives - Paul, Okafor, Posey, Fernandez

Portland receives - Garnett, Rondo

New Orleans receives - Sheed, Pryzbilla, Bayless, Camby

Another Idea

Boston receives - Paul, Okafor, Battier

Houston receives - Rondo, Sheed, Posey

New Orleans receives - Brooks, Garnett, Jeffries, Hayes

Boston's basic lineup after any of these trades

PG - Paul, Robinson
SG - Allen, Bradley, Gaffney/Lafayette
SF - Pierce, Posey/Battier, Daniels
PF - J. O'Neal, Davis
C - Okafor, Perkins, Erden

Obviously the team loses something at PF, but gets a better PG and a much better first wing off the bench.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

No.  I don't think we can win it all with that this year and I don't think that Paul coming here guarantees any future titles, particularly when he could walk in 2012.

Pretty much what Jon says.

Yes I probably would if CP3 could be sold on coming here.

What do you mean: guarantees any future titles? Does such a guarantee exist? Paul will have to agree to sign an extention with any team that trades for him....

No because we have no shot w/o Garnett and w/ Okafor and Rondo and Paul may not be equals but, on Boston Rondo is the better player.

No chance of happening anyway due to there being no need for Rondo in NO.

But a fun discussion, no doubt.

Pauls never won anything, FYI.

That is why I said there would need to be a third team.

FYI, Lebron James has never won anything either, but I'd take him over Paul Pierce any day of the week.  Winning in basketball is about the team, not the individual.  Sure the individual can control winning a lot more in basketball then any other team sport, but you still have to have a team to win.

Absolutely not. #1 KG is the backbone of this Celtics team. You take him away and we've got nothing. #2 Okafor was good in college and has not panned out to even close what everyone expected. Plus nobody in the NBA right now would want his contract, except maybe Kahn. #3 Rajon Rondo might not be the better play when being compared to Paul, but he is the better fit on this team as it currently stands. Besides, IMO, Rondo is not far behind CP3 as far as PGs go. What do you want from your PG? You want him to bring the ball up effectively, not turn the ball over, get the play makers/jump shooters the ball so they can score. Thats EXACTLY what Rondo does. On top of that he's a better defender. Magic even hailed him as the greatest PG in the NBA right now. I don't really agree with that but your a fool if you believe that CP3 has more of an up side than Rondo. CP3 very well might have hit his ceiling, even if it is as high as it is. Rondo? We might not see him hit his peak for another couple years. I'd say he has the most room for improvement and already knows how to WIN. That's something Paul and Okafor do not know.

On a side note I would love to have Posey back. We need another wing and Q is NOT the answer.

So according to you, there's only one winning team in the NBA? Great reasoning...

Correct. One team in the NBA wins the championship. You think the Cs organization should settle for "pretty good"? Think that's how they won 17 championships?

No way, the Lakers would beat that team in 5 games or maybe even 4. We need KG to take out the Lakers, that's what it's all about.

Yes there is only one winner of each season. That doesn't mean the Celtics are not a winning team. They are one of the top teams in the league every year, since the Big 3 cam to town. The argument was not whether they are winners, but whether our TEAM is winning team. And since we already won one title with this same, or almost the same group of guys, that further proves we are a winning team. And we are still capable of winning.

And no one said anything about settling, or being pretty good. Obviously Red didn't settle back in the day. That's why he went out and got Russel, Cowens, Bird as a junior, etc. He pulled so many rabbits out of hats that he will be remembered forever. Anyone here ever heard the story about HOW he got Bill Russel? I highly recommend reading the story and guarantee you'll get a good laugh out of it. Point blank, he was so far ahead of everyone else that without him, there would be no NBA today.

All I'm saying is we have a winning team, just because we lost game 7 does not qualify us as a losing team.
