Am I the only who feels that the Celtics are the only championship contenders who have NOT gotten better as a team so far? All we did was resign our old guys, get rid of TA, and get Jermaine O'Neal?? Oh and we got Avery Bradley  ::)

It just seems like everyone is making so many moves and we're just standing around watching it happen.

Well, the argument can be made that had Perkins not had the freak injury, this would be the defending NBA champs.  So conceivably a full year of Nate, a recovered Marquis, KG one more year removed from surgery, Jermaine (who could be an upgrade over Wallace), and improvements in Rondo and BBD could be enough to do it for us.  Bradley could also be a contributor.

Of course, none of this could work out and we could be screwed.  So at the very least I'd agree with the notion that I'd feel more comfortable with a Josh Howard, Tayshaun Prince, or even a James Posey on board.

Have the Lakers or the Magic improved all that much?

Well, with the Re-signing of Marquis, I'd give us a B+ for our post-season moves.

I think we've done really well. So now we have Marquis (for Paul and Ray), Nate (for Rondo), Glen (KG), and we will get someone else for J.O.

Oftentimes, it's not the team that makes the most moves that's the most successful. We already have what we need to make it to June 11 - right here.

Just need to get a backup Big for J.O - and that might be Sheed.

Meh.

What's you want them to do?

Jermaine O'Neil, flawed that he is, was probably the best available big man we could realistically have acquired using the MLE.  Probably the only free agent big who's considered much better is Haywood, who signed a ridiculous contract in Dallas.  O'Neil's only on the books for two seasons, which is absurd given the long-term deals that have been given out.

The impact-wings I would have loved to have acquired...  well, Travis Outlaw commanded more than the MLE.  Mike Miller clearly wanted to go to South Beach.  JJ Reddick's offer sheet was matched by Orlando.

We don't have the LLE to work with.

No one of note has yet signed veteran minimum contracts, the only other tool we really have to work with, other than....

'Sheed's expiring contract, which so far hasn't been used in a trade.  Meh.  Who knows what's being worked on right now?  Season's still a long way from starting.

What WAS accomplished was that virtually the entire team that was six minutes from a Championship is coming back, with a metric Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ton of flexibility maintained for 2012.  Pierce re-upped at a very reasonable rate.  Ray Allen took a contract offer almost identical to what many of us had been hoping he would take for months.  We lost Tony Allen, but kept two guys who may prove to be key in Nate and Quis.

Would have been nice if they'd bought a first round pick, but don't recall as many picks being for sale this year as in years past.

Still time to sign some vet min players, maybe a Rasual Butler, maybe a Jarvis Hayes, someone who can hit an open jumper.  Still time to sign another vet-min big man.

Given how many STUPID contracts have been extended this summer, I'm really quite pleased with where the C's stand today, and how they're positioned to re-build in a couple years.  Just need a couple more small pieces...

In summary...  chillax.

The Lakers have. One of their weak points was their bench and they have definitely fixed that.

Well, you're not going to get any support here for your point of view. I couldn't disagree more.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

TP..I kinda agree with you,a decent backup like one of those you mentioned would make me feel a little better also.

Did they do more than lose Farmar and pick up Blake? Is that tremendously better than getting JO?

They got Barnes who I personally hate, but would prefer to have him here. Oh and Ratliff.
