Meh.
What's you want them to do?
Jermaine O'Neil, flawed that he is, was probably the best available big man we could realistically have acquired using the MLE. Probably the only free agent big who's considered much better is Haywood, who signed a ridiculous contract in Dallas. O'Neil's only on the books for two seasons, which is absurd given the long-term deals that have been given out.
The impact-wings I would have loved to have acquired... well, Travis Outlaw commanded more than the MLE. Mike Miller clearly wanted to go to South Beach. JJ Reddick's offer sheet was matched by Orlando.
We don't have the LLE to work with.
No one of note has yet signed veteran minimum contracts, the only other tool we really have to work with, other than....
'Sheed's expiring contract, which so far hasn't been used in a trade. Meh. Who knows what's being worked on right now? Season's still a long way from starting.
What WAS accomplished was that virtually the entire team that was six minutes from a Championship is coming back, with a metric Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ton of flexibility maintained for 2012. Pierce re-upped at a very reasonable rate. Ray Allen took a contract offer almost identical to what many of us had been hoping he would take for months. We lost Tony Allen, but kept two guys who may prove to be key in Nate and Quis.
Would have been nice if they'd bought a first round pick, but don't recall as many picks being for sale this year as in years past.
Still time to sign some vet min players, maybe a Rasual Butler, maybe a Jarvis Hayes, someone who can hit an open jumper. Still time to sign another vet-min big man.
Given how many STUPID contracts have been extended this summer, I'm really quite pleased with where the C's stand today, and how they're positioned to re-build in a couple years. Just need a couple more small pieces...
In summary... chillax.
