Disagree. I think all those guys are still in play...maybe not Shaq, but Butler, Wright, Hayes, and Josh Howard are still in play. If we can get Wright or Hayes for the min. then we may still be able to get Shaq for SHeed's deal.

That would be a pretty impressive team.

Our second unit would still have two shooters on the floor with Nate and our wing. Quis could play  at the point and allow Nate to spot up. Still a better deal than last year. Better spacing for our Bigs. Would not want much Rondo and Quis on the floor together. That is not a good perimeter lineup.

This is a semi-desperate move by both Daniels and the Celtics.  Marquis must have wanted to move elsewhere to get more PT but no offers came.  

The Cs are handcuffed by crappy teams like the Wizards, Kings and Clippers who still have cap space so all the NBA agents are promising their equally crappy clients that they will get big bucks if they wait teams out.  

Prime example of this gridlock?  Note all the teams throwing $10 million at Matt freaking Barnes, who at the end of the day is a completely mediocre basketball player.

Frankly, Nick, I don't think the sample size is enough to make a judgment on Marquis. I'm fairly pleased to get him at this price.

I'm not thrilled either. This is actually pretty upsetting to me. Daniels was a terrible fit in Doc's offense. If Danny feels the need to bring him back that just means that there really isn't much out there.

Unless of course you are the one cutting the $5 million check to pay him and the luxury tax for the pleasure of watching him sit on the sidelines most of the year because he ruptured a disc in his back while sneezing or because he breaks his arm while shooting a free throw.

I am also happy with this signing.  Marquis played really well and showed versatility before he got injured.  I felt he never healed or had a chance to get into game shape after he came back...hopefully  the injury is history now.  He has been injury prone in the past.  The Celtics have an excellent medical, strength training and rehab staff and they must feel that they can keep Marquis healthy enough to contribute this year...He already knows the court habits of the starting five and the  Celtics playbook.

I'd prefer if he wasn't the primary bench swingman, but when healthy, he can be a solid player.  I still want to see us upgrade our bench, though.

I love this move.  I think Quis has alot to offer this team.  He has great size and can guard three positions.  I do agree that when healthy he is a 5 million dollar player especially in this market.  

I think if he can stay healthy next year we may see that the wing player that we thought we needed was already with the team.  I love the way this guy moves without the ball.  He is one of the best cutters on this team IMO

Every have a bulging disk?  Sneezing hurts like hell.

Looks like Eddie Lacerte should have his name up in the rafters one day if he can hold this roster together through most of 82 games + playoffs.

Speaking of trainers, do we still have that massage therapist?  Vlad something?  We might need more depth at the Trainer position as well...  Go get 'em, Danny!  (and bring on Shaq and T-Mac while you're at it!  We'll need to have some side bets re: injured list so us fans don't get as bored with the regular season as Sheed was last year!)

I'll bet he makes the free throw. Rondo would bounce it off the back rim.

Very solid insurance signing. Prior to his mid season wrist injury I was loving what Marquis was doing on the second unit.

If he regains that form he can be a solid top wingman on the bench. If he struggles, he'll still be a better than average 4th or 5th wingman.

Very good for 2.5 over 1 year.

I'm very happy with this.  I've been pushing for this for weeks, even before TA came back.  

While I echo the notion that ideally he is our 4th wing, if we don't end up getting a 3rd wing, it's at least conceivable that Marquis could be that guy.  I wouldn't want to bet our 2010-2011 season on it; however, unlike some other options at the minimum, it's at least possible that Marquis could find his pre-2010 form and be a force off the bench.
