Rondo is the future of the Celtics... No chance this will happen!

You would think that Simmons might actually run his ideas through ESPN's Trade Machine before he proposes them.  I mean he does work at ESPN afterall.

Rondo is a BYC, which means you can't even trade Rondo and Sheed for Paul straight up.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

He posted a tweet saying just that a few hours ago.

Rondo is the best player that NO could get for Paul.  Danny doesn't have to do the deal so I don't think you'd have to throw in Perk and a 1st.  Danny would be negotiating from a position of strength.

Plus Rondo has an awesome cap friendly contract for the next 4 years.  NO would be stupid not to make the trade.

NO could then trade Collison to the Knicks for Randolf + who would play well with Rondo.

I'm 50/50 on the trade.  If the big 3 OK'd it, then I'd do it.

1st Rondo has proven the past two of the three years he can lead a team to the finals. Perkins has done a great job also to help the Celtics to the finals.

CP to me is quitter just like Lebron. Getting the ring is important but do it the right now instead of being a whinny b@#

He also disrespects his teammates or ex teammates. Guys who you shared a bond together and now turn your back on (by stating to need to on a better team so you can have a chance to win a ring).

Anyways Danny would be tempted if the offer was presented to him. And for NO Rondo would definitely be a pg they can accept in return. Its a good thought but won't happen

I would hate to see Rondo leaving Boston but.....but.....It's Chris Paul. Anytime you can trade for a top 5 nba player you do it....

I concur!

I don't see how this will happen. NO already has a PG to replace Paul if they trade him, they don't need another one. Look for Paul to be swapped for someone who plays a different position.

Rondo is better than Collison by leaps and bounds. The best move would be to trade Collison to a team with no PG and get back cheap young talent on the wing to NO.

When Rondo gets upset when the C's finally rebuild in two years we'll see how different he is.

Rondo has played for a contender since his second year, Paul has only had one team that went far and then they immediately backslid.

Let's also not forget that CP3 is more likely to attract a big time FA to sign in Boston than Rondo is. Rondo seems to have a quirky personality that is totally opposite from Paul. That could weigh in heavily in 2012.

100% agree!

Also, the other issue with trading Rondo for Paul - other than BYC - is the fact the NO has Collison. Collison has shown that he can be a starting caliber PG, the most sense for NO would be to trade Paul for some pieces that can play alongside Collison and develop that young core while saving some money, not bring in another starting caliber PG.

100% agree!

In 2012, I honestly think Paul is peacing out to NY. And what would happen is a replay of LBJ/Miami/Cleveland, minus the lame 1 hr special.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Trading Rondo would be stupid....the guy is young and improving each year considerably into one of the top point guards...

why would you get rid of that? when in 2 years we are going to have 30million in cap space anyways?

Rondo won't complain like CP. He has been through hell already being on a celtics team that lost almost every game. And plus the Celtics team will i'm sure get to sign somebody decent once the big three are on a heavy decline.

As long as we got Perk, Rondo (center and PG) plus we can get one guy who can score , we will be contending for a while

Let's not forget that basketball is a team sports. With that said, Rondo, as terrific as he is for the Celtic's, lacked the perimeter shooting that is needed by the team. Just like what was mentioned in this forum post earlier, Kobe during the finals laid-off Rondo and dared him to shoot. With CP3's jumpers, means Kobe (or whoever is assigned to defend the 1) will have to defend better. With CP3's offense, it will only help the low post offense of KG, Pierce (at times in a mismatch), JO, & Shrek.

Also, someone mentioned that with CP3 on board, he "might" attract more marquee FA's in the future. That is true, too.

So, "if" the trade is made, and the popular choice is to include  Okafor, I think it's a really good deal to make, in my opinion.
