First off let me say I cant stand Bill Simmons, he cries about everything.  "Oh I lost my childhood innocence when Manny Ramirez got busted for PEDs....Oh I cannot write good articles since the Red Sox won a second world series...blah, blah blah.  The guy is a hack and a cry baby and I am a Boston fan (for most everything except Hockey).

As for the trade, am I the only one who believes Rondo is either as good or on the same level as CP3?  If there are 5 top PGs in the game, CP3, Deron Williams, Rose, the kid from Sacramento, Rondo has to be the 5th.

But some of the potential deals are interesting.  My Guess is that NY has seen an opening and will try and get him.

Right now the Lakers are kicking themselves in the ass for signing Blake and Fisher.

Despite Okafor's ugly deal, I'd do this one in a nanosecond.
Agreed.

I don't think CP3 would want to come here though, and who knows what sort of package their GM is demanding. I know I'd ask for the moon.

According to Sham, Okafor's 4th year is a team option. Maybe we can hold off our FA splash until 2013? In 2013 we would have PP and Paul on big money contracts. We could potentially sign a max player that summer and a max player the summer of 14, when PP comes off the books.

Rondo is not as good as Chris Paul. Maybe they're both up there in the PG top list, but Paul is at the number one spot.  Paul has similar defensive abilities and rebounding ability, he's an incredible passer, the best ball handler I've ever seen, and he doesn't cripple your offense by letting defenders sag off the way we have seen people sag off Rondo for years now because Paul is a good shooter too.

As for future outlook, I don't know if Rondo ever will get a reliable jumpshot, maybe he becomes a reliable FT shooter.  Chris Paul is already both and will probably improve in both those areas as he goes through his career.

He is a total package.  I really like Rondo but Chris Paul is just better and he'd open up so much more on offense for us with his jump shot.

Probably could turn Rondo to New York for some non-pg pieces if New Orleans wanted to rebuild with collison.

Are either of the trades even possible?  The Paul/Okafor is failing for me on Trade Machine and the Posey/Paul one is only working when I include Gaffney and Oliver.

Rondo is a BYC player.  I don't think these trades work.

Rondo is practically impossible to trade because he is a BYC player. A third team with cap space would have to be included to make any deal possible...

Any trade involving Rondo will be extremely difficult for us due to his BYC status.  We would need a third team, and would also have to include multiple other players.

And I have to say, THANK GOD FOR THIS!  I'm quie tired of hearing all this buffoonery about trading Rondo, for Paul or any one else for that matter.  Even if whoever, in this case Paul, may or may not be the better player, Rondo's contract is a very valuable one.  He is already an All-Star, and will be paid on the cheap for the next 5 seasons.

This trade idea is an epic fail!

Yeah, I believe Broussard more than Simmons, and as compelling as this deal MIGHT be, Broussard says Boston's not in the hunt.

Also, I agree with celtsfan84; although I'm not sure it guarantees these trades will or will not work, I do think Rondo being a BYC player would complicate a deal like this, but to what extent I'm not sure.

At the end of the day though, something tells me that Danny wouldn't be so keen on giving up Rondo right now. But, who knows?

Boston has the hammer offer if they want to make it: Rondo, Perkins, Sheed's ghost, No. 1 + 3m for CP3 + Okafor. NO has to say yes to that.

This is a great deal at face value for both sides....but Perkins' injury would have to sour the deal a bit for NO.

I think Okafor's long deal (4 yrs left) would make NO want to do this. Although Perk is injured, his contract is an expiring one.
Yeah, and I'm wondering if Perk has an injury insurance policy that might be paying his salary until he's fit.  A lot of players do, and that would be extra incentive for NO.

I don't put too much stock in any "wish list" Paul might have... if New Orleans is going to be screwed by Paul demanding a trade, why do they really care where they send him? They get the most value back that they can.

I think Ainge looks at every single possible deal that could improve his team and I bet he will be trying at least to land Paul.  With Paul being better than Rondo, I am pretty sure he's going to give it a try.  He has been linked to Rondo trade rumors before.

It would be hard for me to say goodbye to Rondo but if this was really on the table it might be a good move (assuming CP3 signs an extension).

I don't see why CP3 wouldn't want it. He plays two years with three awesome veterans that made the finals just last year. They've also shown they're willing to give a younger guy the spotlight. And then when Ray and KG's contracts expire, the team has the cap space to sign another star in their place.

Boston's management has also shown they have the willingness to spend in order to win. To be honest, sounds like the perfect situation.

Still. It would break my heart to see Rondo go but if that's on the table, I think you have to do it.

They would swap Rondo for a player who doesn't want to play there, get cash, a 1st rdr, and cap flexibility. NO would probably have to pull the trigger on this.
It doesn't make a difference if Paul doesn't want to be there. He is under contract.

This one is working, but we keep Perk and don't take back Okafor's long deal.

Portland would have to do a subsequent move with Rondo, Miller, and  Bayless on the roster. Bayless can play the 2, so if they find a taker for Miller it would make sense.

NO can hand the team to Collison and they get back a starting 2 guard in Fernandez and big man with upside in Oden. This is probably as good as it gets for NO because the Paul trade demands made public only hurts their asking price.
