Footey... has there ever been a 7 foot project that worked out? Ever? If a 7 footer has even the tiniest tiniest bit of potential teams will do everything humanly possible to cultivate his talent. If a 7 footer is on the scrap heap, it is for a reason.
sure we just signed a guy who at one time was a 7 foot project and we signed him to be the injury replacement for another guy who was a 7 foot project.

Tracy pulled a Marbury and left Toronto because he wanted to be the head honcho.

I absolutely disagree with this.

Remember the summer when TMac signed with Orlando.  Orlando had all that cap room and the plan was to sign TMac, Grant Hill, and Tim Duncan.  If you're trying to be the head honcho, you're not trying to team up with Duncan and Hill.

ORLANDO - It was the summer of 2000 and the Orlando Magic was quickly turning the NBA landscape upside down. The Magic received a verbal commitment from the top free-agent available, Tim Duncan, while also landing two other prominent free agents, perennial All-Star Grant Hill and a young, rising star in Tracy McGrady, via sign-and-trade agreements.

Everything was set up for the start of a dynasty, or at least the Eastern Conference's answer to Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant's Lakers.

"It would have been unbelievable," McGrady said. "For me, it was a no-brainer to have the opportunity to go home. But I was just excited to play with Grant and Tim. Grant was awesome back then and in his prime, I was coming into my own and Tim had already won a title."

I mean this could have been the Heat today 10 years ago.  I don't think anybody would have hated the Magic like people hate the Heat right now.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

  • Another undersized Celtic...
This is from Bleacher Report, I'm not sure how reliable it is, so take it for what it's worth.  I would hope that the C's would be looking at better options than T-Mac, but hopefully if the C's do end up signing him he can prove us wrong showing that he still has something left in the tank.

NBA Free Agent Rumors: Tracy McGrady To the Boston Celtics?

By Erik Landau (Contributor) on July 17, 2010

Reports have been swirling that Tracy McGrady has considered teams in L.A., Miami, and even Orlando where he was a scoring machine. Well, the team with the most titles all time is reportedly interested as well now that Tony Allen has vacated the Boston grounds.

The only reason Danny would consider picking up McGrady is to get the group senior's discount at Smith & Wollensky's on Boylston St to defray the cost of post game team dinner meetings.

I see the youtube vid was of his 7th game for the Knicks, his best game for them with 26/4/5 on 59% FG shooting, his 1st for the Knicks with double-digit minutes.

In his last 7 games, he shot 14/50 (28%), 3-18 on threes (16.6%) averaging 5.3/2.9/3.6

Looks like he got hurt.

I would like to see the Cs take on McGrady for the vet min, why not?  Worst case I'm sure he would give us more than Finley did.

Then, trade Sheed's contract for Nocioni, pick up Ben Wallace for the vet min, and then bring back Sheed in March, so he can get in shape for the playoffs (he only started playing for us around April of last year anyway), and here's our playoff roster, minus whoever is hurt or in the D-league by that time:

Perk/JO/Sheed
KG/Baby/Ben Wallace
Paul/Nocioni/Harangody
Ray/TMac/Bradley
Rondo/Nate

That's respectable, better than 2010 I would say.

Very interesting i wasn’t aware of all that. How exactly were they going to sign Duncan?

Could be wrong about this, but I thought the plan was to get Duncan and one of either McGrady or Hill.  When Duncan stayed with San Antonio, they signed both.  I'm not sure they had room for all three.

The good news for us rooting against Miami, however, is that Hill and McGrady didn't exactly work out for Orlando.

Don't think T-MAC would be a great fit.  We'll need defenders to give Lebron, Wade and Kobe fits.

Like the Nocioni though. (Would the sixers through something else in the trade if we take this contract off their books for Sheed)

Barnes would also be a better fit but he definitely wants more than the vet min.

I will never understand how some of you are comparing T-mac to an Allen Iverson or Stephon Marbury and calling him a headcase and selfish on the court. He is actually not selfish at all and he has shown that he is willing to be a role player in the league. He has skills that will make him a valuable role player on any team, and I would be thrilled if the Celtics signed him.

-He tanked for a trade in Orlando and bragged about it after.

-Somebody please  re-post for Jay that incredible on-court exhibition with Houston that prompted this idiot to be benched until traded.

I would love to see him, Iverson, and Marbury in a Heat uniform.  They'd fit right in to the relentless egos.

I remember cousin Vinnie tanking on purpose, but I don't remember McGrady doing so.

I don't remember him tanking for Orlando, he didn't like the direction of the Magic and was planning on opting out of his contract, magic traded him because they didn't want to lose him for nothing. I think he was the scoring champ in his last year with the Magic? I think you're thinking of his cousin Vince Carter...

-I don't remember any "exhibition' that he put on to get him bennched, but I know that he had very nagging back and knee issues that made him very inneffective, and I don't really fault him for that. He still wanted to play, but he was hardly a cancer. In his last few games with the Rockets, he was limited to 8 mins a game but he felt that he deserved to play more, this doesn't really show anything negative about T-mac, but it shows he has a desire to play.
