This is from Bleacher Report, I'm not sure how reliable it is, so take it for what it's worth.  I would hope that the C's would be looking at better options than T-Mac, but hopefully if the C's do end up signing him he can prove us wrong showing that he still has something left in the tank.

NBA Free Agent Rumors: Tracy McGrady To the Boston Celtics?

By Erik Landau (Contributor) on July 17, 2010

Reports have been swirling that Tracy McGrady has considered teams in L.A., Miami, and even Orlando where he was a scoring machine. Well, the team with the most titles all time is reportedly interested as well now that Tony Allen has vacated the Boston grounds.

T mac has a good 3 point stroke. He will probably play better this year, one year further removed from micro fracture surgery.  Worth a kick in the tires, and sign for vet min, if his ego can take it.

For the vet min there is no harm in getting him.

I really hope that this report is accurate.  Even Tommy said that, if healthy, McGrady would be a perfect addition to this team.  Can create his own shot, play the 1, 2, and 3, is an exceptional passer, has the physical tools to be a great defensive player, and can get to the free throw line.

However, I think he said that if his knee doesn't respond positively this summer, and if he is unable to regain the form that once made him a perennial allstar, he will retire.

On another note, the Celtics wouldn't have this problem in the depth department if we had drafted Lance Stephenson instead of Avery Bradley.  At 6'5/6'6 he has the size and ability to play the 1, 2, and 3, has a good midrange game, can create his own shot, is an excellent passer, and has dropped significant weight due to his new found knowledge concerning nutrition since the end of the season which, coupled with his hard work, has no doubt made him a much better defensive player.

Hard to believe DA/Doc would waste their time on him.

I'd rather see the space given to  a 7-foot project like Mahinmi or Barron.

low risk high reward, I enjoy these types of signings if they can happen

this team may shape into the vet bunch that takes on the scrappy upstart Heat

Imagine

Shaq Perk
KG  JO   Baby
Pierce Tmac
Ray Howard
Rondo Nate Bradley

tons of talent, lots of risk with potential injury, but if they keep it together in the playoffs they'd make it interesting at least

Some of you guys kill me, thinking we are royalty and we have the privilege to pick which free agents aren't good enough to play for this team.. We have no money and it doesn't seem like we're moving sheed's contract anytime soon! Getting Tmac for the vet min. is a blessing no questions asked rather he's healthy or not! Their are no better options available that we have a realistic chance of getting.. Him, matt barnes, or daniels, come on let's be serious here, who do you think the big 4 would want?

I believe Barnes, due to his nasty streak. He also hit 43% from three vs the c's in the playoffs.

I don't see any reason to think Tmac will be any better than he was with the Knicks, which was just awful. he's done

You don't see why a 31 year old guy recovering from microfracture surgery would be better this year.

Mahinmi signed with Dallas already.

agreed.  mcgrady is done.  if barnes can be had for the vet. minimum he would be the ideal player to sign.  he would be able to fill TA's role as defensive stopper off the bench plus knock down far more jump shots than TA.

I'm on board for bringing on T-Mac.

All we need from him is a good :30 - :35 seconds.

He won't be.  He'll command at least $4M/year
