I just don't think PG was really an important priority for us.  With the amount of minutes Rondo plays, we probably could've squeaked by with Bradley.
...
Onm that point I disagree.  We haven't seen him in action at all, adn having a rookie PG in a key bench role is not what championship teams do.  Bradley is bound to get eaten alive by C. Paul, D-Will and virtually every other vet PG in his first year.

A two year deal? Why the second season?

Trade bait the second year when we would be coming into the off season where most of our contracts are coming off the books.

And Nate probably didn't want to sign a one year deal and again and wanted to have at least some stability.

I'm fine with bringing back Nate.  He fit in a heck of a lot better than I was expecting, and he's a legitimate talent.

Like i already posted I love the signing.

But Im interested to see how many people on here would have rather had Tony at 2 years 4.5 mil a year over Nate...? If anybody at all.

I do wonder if we were bidding against ourselves a little bit.  I mean who else wanted him?  I didn't hear anything.  And for all his talents, at his size, he'll never anything but a backup on a good team or a starter on a crap team.

Still, it's not my money and I think this helps the C's, so I'm happy as long as this doesn't mean that we get cheap about wings.

4.5 mill for Nate isn't that bad.

Again, I don't really care.  I'm not paying his salary.  But 4.5 million seems like a lot for a guy who likely won't see more than 12 mpg.  And while this isn't exactly telling, has anyone actually heard of any other team wanting him?

I just wonder if this is a case like with Scal, where Danny appeared to be bidding against himself.

It'd be one thing if he was a Delonte-type that could easily slide to the 2, but that really isn't the case.

Who knows, maybe Doc will experiment with a smurfy, but speedy backcourt at times.

My guess is that we will see Nate get 20+ minutes per game this season backing up both the 1 and 2 (I know, very small 2 guard, but....)

I wanted one of the two back, and I didn't really care which one it was.  Gun to my head, I probably prefer Nate, just because he's less injury prone, and I dislike Tony as a person.

I agree.  However, I don't see backup PG as an especially "key" role on this team.  We got by with Eddie House for two years, who essentially was a shooting guard who just happened to guard the opposition's point guard.

Given that defense is Bradley's forte, I think he could've at least guarded opposing defenses, even if Ray or Paul had to bring the ball up.

Still, I'll go back to what I said at the beginning.  This is a good basketball move that makes us better.  I just wonder if we were bidding against ourselves.  Everyone wants to argue with me why Nate is a good player and I agree.  But nobody seems to want to address the fact that no one else may have wanted him, which may have made 4.5 million a bit excessive.

At the end of the day though, we should just happy that Wyc is willing to pay big bucks to make upgrades like this.

Not me in my opinion Nate brings more to the table during the whole season.

Even though this is irrelevant right now but my gut says Nate does more for us next year then Tony does for the Griz.

I liked the idea of bringing Nate back for one season and was willing to pay $4-5 million for that right ... but I don't like this two year stuff. I think that second season should have been a deal breaker.

What is the point in drafting Avery Bradley? Should've taken Damion James if Nate was going to have the backup PG role for another two years.

Nate is a better player than Chris Duhon, who got 4 years, $15 million from Orlando.  I'm not sure if he's better than Kyle Lowry, who got 4 years, $24 million, but Lowry is probably better suited to starting than Robinson.  I'd say Robinson is a better talent who deserves more money than Big Baby on the bench.  I think the negotiations probably centered around two vs three years.

The point in drafting Avery Bradley is to get a potential SG of the future.  Why do people keep assuming that most of Bradley's potential value is backing up Rondo?

I cannot wait to see what he will be able to do with a full offseason. Finally Rondo will not be dehydrated after every game.

Really glad we got Nate back a real punch off the bench. We need a good defender/shooter and another big and call it an off-season.

Yes, I think you are right.

Definitely undersized at the 2 but can cause havoc with Rondo and Nate being aggressive and going after steals in the backcourt.  Both are quick and run the floor very well too and can hit our bigs and wing player with quality passes.  It'll be a nice, change of pace duo to throw out there.
