I was actually hoping for Sessions from Minni to be the back-up PG/Combo guy but Nate will be fine.  Hard to believe he is only 26 years old.  I like the maturity that he showed in the playoffs and expect that he will continue in that direction.

Now who is next, Barnes, Josh Howard,...?

Scal.

But seriously, welcome back Nate!
Celtics fan for life.

I do wonder if we were bidding against ourselves a little bit.  I mean who else wanted him?  I didn't hear anything.  And for all his talents, at his size, he'll never anything but a backup on a good team or a starter on a crap team.

Still, it's not my money and I think this helps the C's, so I'm happy as long as this doesn't mean that we get cheap about wings.

well, looks like we'll have a representative in the dunk contest even if Scal doesn't resign  ;)

4.5 mill for Nate isn't that bad.

Maybe they could both compete and Scal could attempt (and fail) to jump over Nate for his final dunk.

Again, I don't really care.  I'm not paying his salary.  But 4.5 million seems like a lot for a guy who likely won't see more than 12 mpg.  And while this isn't exactly telling, has anyone actually heard of any other team wanting him?

I just wonder if this is a case like with Scal, where Danny appeared to be bidding against himself.

It'd be one thing if he was a Delonte-type that could easily slide to the 2, but that really isn't the case.

Who knows, maybe Doc will experiment with a smurfy, but speedy backcourt at times.

4.5 mill is worth it for Nate if he gets run during the season like he did in the playoffs.

Compared to other backup PGs in the NBA, Nate is quite good.

Plus with the Celtics limited resources, the were essentially looking at Nate or a minimum wager.

Nate for 2 years is great.

We need Nate as insurance/regular season relief for RR. He may only get 12 minutes/game with RR healthy but who is to say RR will go thru another season w/o serious injuries? I certainly hope not, but at least we have a quality PG who can step in.

Like I've said, this isn't a big deal as long as Wyc is still willing to trade Sheed's contract.

However, regardless of Nate, Rondo is still going to play close to 40 mpg in the playoffs (and young stars should play that many minutes).  So that makes Nate even less valuable.

I just don't think PG was really an important priority for us.  With the amount of minutes Rondo plays, we probably could've squeaked by with Bradley.

And I still haven't heard one rumor tying him anywhere else.

Still, I think it's a good basketball move.  We're a better team with him than without him.

Nate will be their leading scorer of the bench and should help out the second unit big time.

Last year, Ray Allen and Pierce always had to be on the floor with Baby, Sheed, Tony Allen, etc...cuz they didn't have enough fire power otherwise.  Now that Nate knows the offense he can become a sixth man scorer for the team a la (if we are lucky) Vinny the Microwave Johnson

I actually really was hoping this would happen.

Out of curiosity, though, how were we able to pay him so much per year. I thought we could only offer him a modest raise.

A two year deal? Why the second season?
