I'll toss out some names.  I don't necessarily think any of them are good ideas, but they strike me as what Ainge can legitimately get for the vet min.

James Singleton - a 3/4 rather than a wing, but his strengths are rebounding and defense and I like the idea of having separate backups for Pierce and Allen

Joe Alexander - this year's Shelden Williams, a draft bust who some team will find worth a hail mary in the hopes that a change of scenery does something

Devin Brown - he's 31, but it's not like you're going to get a wing who is both young and talented for the minimum

Honestly, I set the baseline for addressing the needs at wing using the vet min exception as the combination of Sasha Pavlovic and Ime Udoka and consider anything better than that as gravy.

I have this feeling that Marquis Daniels might be brought back.  And I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Boston absolutely CANNOT bring Daniels back ... a wing's gotta be able to shoot, and that's what Daniels does worst. And last season he also lived up to his reputation as an injury-prone player, which isn't good on any team, especially on one so loaded with aging vets.
Whoever we bring in needs to be able to defend first and foremost.  Daniels can do that and for that reason only I think they need to bring him back.  Have a feeling that whatever solution Danny comes up with, it's not going to be perfect.

I only like Rasual Butler from Rashi's list.  I wouldn't hate Larry Hughes but wouldn't love it either.  A few more names that are out there some better than others. Also not opposed to Tim Thomas kind of being a low budget more talented Scal replacement to fill holes at the 4 and the 3 and 5 occasionally.

Roger Mason (only interested if Nate doesn't come back outside of that not so much)
Antoine Wright
Jerry Stackhouse
Ime Udoka
Damien Wilkins
Quentin Ross
Sasha Pavlovic (PLEASE NOOOO)

One wing needs to be able to shoot.  He's really probably a better 4th wing than anyone else out there.

I'll be unhappy if he's the first wing off the bench, but he'd be a very strong 2nd wing.  He's been a starter in this league on fairly good teams.

Quis and Nate might make a decent wing combination.  Couple decent ballhandlers, and Nate can shoot the thing better than most of the guys who are realistically available.  Nate can play off the ball on offense and be disruptive against the 1 on D.

The injury bug's the only thing with Quis; he was playing some pretty [dang] solid basketball early in the season before he got hurt.  But, we started the season out very strong and he was probably THE key guy off the bench (Davis was hurt, 'Sheed was shooting <40%, Eddie was struggling).  Think people forget how solid Quis was, maybe because he always seems to be kind of lorrygagging out there, never doing much spectacular but being pretty solid and stable.  Just can't hit a [dang] jumper.

Still would like someone else; Howard, or Rasual Butler.  Could live with Butler, Quis, and Nate as the backup guards, and hope that Avery Bradley develops into a contributor before too long.

I agree.  Nate, Quis, and Butler would be satisfactory.

However, I'm afraid with Miami what they are now and another year on the Big Three, we may need more than satisfactory with a Josh Howard or Tayshaun Prince acquisition.

Would love Prince, don't see how Detroit gives him up for what we have to offer.  He's already expiring; 'Sheed gives them a little bit of savings, but not a ton.  We just don't have the picks or young talent to give up in a deal, I don't think.

Rip Hamilton, we could probably get for not much more than 'Sheed's contract....  but that third season is  killer.  If he only had two years left, I'd say bite the bullet and try and grab him, but that pretty much would push back the inevitable rebuild by twelve months.

Would love Prince or Battier for that matter but don't see any incentive for their teams to do that.  Though I still hold out hope that the Rockets will wanna dump some salary if they manage to sign Brad Miller.

Brian Windhorst said Shaq for Williams might be dead in the water.  Guess Williams MIGHT still be in play, don't know if Atlanta wants to do us any favors though
