Anyone else find it kinda funny/ironic that two teams that Boise St have embarrassed in the recent past have leap frogged them in the rankings?

It's almost as though what they really need to be able to be ranked high enough to play for the national championship is that in addition to winning 40 something straight games they need teams like Boston College or Wake Forest or Vandy or something to be the champs of their conferences.

College football. More corrupt than the mafia, but less than congress.

As a huge Pac 10 fan, the answer is simple: Boise St needs to join the Pac 10!
(although I understand academic requirements might be an issue -- that, and Colorado and Utah are already joining).

Ahhhh yes. The old "If you can beat em with regularity then join em" argument. It could work.

It didn't exactly work for BC. Unless going from a mediocre program to awful was the intent

Gotta love what Mizzou is doing against Oklahoma tonight ... I was impressed by Clemson today, too.

Went to the BC Maryland game yesterday. Maybe two of the more pathetic offensive teams in Division 1 football. Absolutely boring football to watch for over 3/4s of the game.

BC desperately needs to recruit a QB and some speed on the outside. I know with their academic standards not easy to do, but man oh man that offense is awful and terrible to watch. The Everett High School offense is better than the BC offense right now.

This week's "Games that Interests Dons".

Oregon v. USC- #1 team in the country playing on the road against a pesky USC team that's exceeding my expectations.  Dangerous game for the Ducks.

Michigan St. v. Iowa- Will Iowa bounce back into the Big Ten chase after last week's disappointing game against Wisconsin?  Can Michigan St. stay undefeated?

Missouri v. Nebraska- Missouri is right back at it with another very difficult game after upsetting Oklahoma last week.  Tigers could easily fall from the ranks of the unbeatens today.

Baylor v. Texas- Are the Baylor Bears for real?

They played a little better yesterday.  They have alot of good pieces, just gotta let the QB catch up to things.  The only thing that kills me every week is the offensive playcalling.  It so predictable.  Run-Run-Pass.  Another thing that kills me is the conservative style.  Yesterday they were up 16-10 at halftime.  One play can give clemson the lead.  They never even tried to score the whole half.  It was just a work the clock for 2 quarters and hope your defense holds.  Luckily it did.

TCU won't be allowed to jump Auburn in a weak SEC tomorrow or Oregon in a weak Pac 10, which is absurd.  BSU and TCU should be ranked 1,2 until some weak bcs conference team beats them.

If college basketball were anything like college football they'd never have had Butler in the championship game, which is probably the way they wish it was now

I'd keep BSU third, just because they haven't got any notable wins, and Oregon state, their only arguable "marque" win is killing them by losing game after game due to the roger's injury.

TCU at least handled Utah, I'd move them into second, and put Auburn in 1st.

I agree that the small conference bias will keep them in third though. It's funny, if you watch College Gameday, some of the commentators are visibly offended that TCU and BSU are as high as they are.

I also hate those same commentators argument that neither team has "beaten anyone of substance"

When the rankings came out, BSU was 2nd. the schedule was available at that time yes? we all knew who they were playing. They've beaten every single team in front of them. It irks me that they were placed second in the rankings to start, which must have taken their schedule into account, and thier reward for running the table looks to be to move DOWN the rankings.

Second, since no there is no incentive for ANY big school to play BSU or TCU, they can't really improve their schedule.

No out of conference school wants to play them in the regular season, there's no upside under the messed up system. If, lets say Auburn just as an example, were to take a non- conference game against them, only two scenarios are available under the BCS/ ESPN spin.

Result 1- Auburn wins: No one gives them credit because "you should have beaten them anyway"

Result 2- Auburn loses : "what an embarrassment to lose to a team from outside a big conference."

It's a catch 22. I hope every big team but the ducks or auburn gets a loss or two and TCU sneaks in on the strength of the Utah win.

But this is college football, and it's about the BCS keeping the large market teams happy, so Bosie will once again get stuck playing TCU, and nothing will be settled.

This is what bothers me....they talk about strength of schedule but the entire sec has a total of zero out of conference wins.   Where are the wins against Virginia Tech, or undefeated 5th ranked Utah, or Oregon St, or really anyone?  Penn State with a freshman QB in his 2nd game? Beating UNC's junior varsity last second? Puhlease.

It's embarrassing.

The rankings are embarrassing too. They've shown they're incompetent with them. 4-5 Texas was a top 5 team. 2 loss Oklahoma was #2. 2 loss Bama was #1.  Ohio State? Anyone remember them?

They're just trying to let Kellen Moore and Andy Dalton graduate and try to dodge a bullet, but it won't work.

BSU beat Oregon two years in a row, then returned like 20 starters and beat two ranked BCS teams.

TCU only lost to BSU last year and just beat undefeated #5 on their turf in dominant fashion. They should be #1-2 and everyone else should get in line behind them.

This problem won't go away until the supposedly great teams face them instead of avoid them.  You can't hide from them, just proclaim yourself best, and then expect people to accept that.

My top 5 would look like this right now.

1.  Oregon
2.  TCU
3.  Auburn
4.  Boise State
5.  Wisconsin

If I'm putting a non-BCS team in the top two, its TCU.  They've done a lot to impress me while Boise State has been continually beating up on a joke of a schedule.  TCU jumps Auburn because of a very impressive win yesterday against a Top 5 (or 6 depending on the rankings) team.

I think Auburn stumbles in the Iron Bowl and we'll see an Oregon-TCU National Title Game.

But this is the thing. BSU beat both Oregon (two years in a row) and TCU last year and then returned virtually all their starters.  I guess that's partly why I put them in the top 2

That happened in the past.  Its not relevant to me.

It's about the current season.  2010.

Agreed but if BSU returned all their starters from teams that they beat, how did those teams surpass them? Magic?  I'm not trying to be obtuse, but obviously last year does count or else teams wouldn't start the season ranked where they are.  Bama was ranked where they were to start the season because of last season. So was Florida.  They got the undeserved benefit of the doubt, so I'd think BSU would get the well deserved benefit.
