Talking to my son I just found out the Everett to Boston College highway has bagged another recruit to early commit to BC. Everett's star running back this year Manny Asprilla is going to be an Eagle next year. He had a huge game versus Leominster Friday night.

Ya i saw that.  ESPN has Asprilla pegged as a CB?  Does he play that too or are they just way off base?

Also check out what the ACC Blog ESPN had to say...This was in the ACC Helmet Stickers week 2 article:

BC's defense. The Eagles held Kent State to 4 rushing yards and forced five turnovers in a 26-13 win. Kent State had two fumbles and three interceptions. Alex Albright had his first career interception, and Wes Davis also picked off a pass for the Eagles.

I thought the D played very well yesterday.  Herzlich looked a lot better than he did in the Weber St game.  He's starting to shake the rust.

I have a feeling they are going to be facing a very p*ssed off Hokie team in 2 teams.  Finally a test.  Tough to gauge this BC team so far.

I agree on Herzlich, I expect them to exploit out intermediate pass defense though.  Thats seems to be the biggest hole right now.

Yes, he's a very good defensive back and CB would probably be his position. He's a lot like Isaac Johnson, who came out of Everett and is currently playing at the Heights, but a bit smaller. Noel is really the star of that trio when it comes to defense though. When he fills out physically he will have a NFL saefty's body and game.

This Boston College game is about to put me to sleep it's so boring. Are you kidding me Eagles? 3-0 nearing the half!!!!

Was at the game today.  The defense was really impressive.  The offense was pretty bad.  they have to be able to throw the ball for Montel to be effective.  Kent state had 9-10 in the box every play, and Shinskie couldnt take advantage.

I've told you for months, Rondo. Shinske is gonna hold this team back as long as he's starting.
I know Dons I know, im trying to be hopeful, and ya Nick Jim Noel is a real solid player and only a sophmore.  I Just hope he loves the school so we can get his bro to play basketball!
His bro is a pretty smart kid so it is possible but he is getting the hard push from some of the best basketball schools in the country right now. My son is very good friends with him and he lives one street over. He just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I think he's either 6'11" or 7'0" now...and just a junior in high school. He's fully recovered from his knee injury and he tore up the BABC this summer.

Thats what i like to hear Nick, Get recruiting!! ;D
It's funny to watch Nerlyns(that's his name BTW) play football. DiBiaso(the Everett coach for both football and basketball) uses him in situational football plays only. When the opposition goes to kick field goals or extra points they send him out them. So here is this 7 footer with a 9 foot+ standing reach lining up in the linebacker spot with his hands in the air and then at the snap of the football he jumps from a standing position, and the kid has hops. Needless to say, given what an outstanding shot blocker and defensive player he is in basketball, not many kicks get by him.

You should also see when they use him as a wide receiver on short goal line situations on offense. The opposing coach sees him come out, realizes he has a 5'9" kid playing DB opposite him and it's always an instant timeout. It's so predictable it's hilarious.

Anyway, when I see him next I give him the big push to the Heights but know that the big guys are hovering like vultures. Over the next year plus I expect to see just about every single big name coach in the country drive by my house as they make their way to the Noel home.

Haha thats awesome, im over in Malden so i may have to go to an everett football game to check him out.  Didnt he transfer to a prep high schoool?
Yeah he did but last year it was very funny to watch.

That's too bad. Kid was a player but he had a bit of an ego. Wonder what happened?

My new national rankings

#1 BSU
#2 JMU
#3 Virginia Tech
#4 Bama (don't count em out yet)
#5 Ohio State
#6 Jacksonville St
#7 Oklahoma

the rest...well we should wait till later in the season before making sweeping pronouncements, but the ACC might have to play 1-AA the rest of the way

This Saturday's edition of "What Games Interests Dons".  Not the best of college football slates this weekend.

Iowa v. Arizona-  Both teams fly under the radar a bit in their conference.  Is this gonna be the year that 'Zona finally takes the Pac-10?  This game will be a good gauge.

Notre Dame v. Michigan State-  MSU had a bit of a battle with Florida Atlantic of all teams last weekend.  ND had that tough loss to Michigan.  Can they avoid going 1-2?  I believe so.

Texas v. Texas Tech-  Dangerous game for my beloved Longhorns.  I'm genuinely concerned about their offense and they're playing a night game at TT which isn't the easiest of places to play. Holding my breath on this one.  Horns are in for a real fight.

Nebraska v. Washington-  Cornhuskers are gonna roll.  Jake Locker or not.

Very prophetic.

Huskers up 21-7 with almost 9 minutes still left in the 2nd quarter.

Anybody just watch the end of that ND-MSU game?

Talk about a gutsy playcall.  A fake FG to win it in OT?  Wow.

Yep, I saw it.  A better end then the other overtime game tonight (Auburn-Clemson that ended on a missed fg after a penalty pushed Clemson back after they had hit the tying FG)

Well you all know me. The thing I enjoyed this weekend was UMass kicking Mich in the teeth for a while.

Nice to see Ingram back.

Pretty Pumped for BC vs VT tomorrow.  Should be a pretty good game, and I think BC has the edge since its at home and BC is a dominant home team
