Why are we even bothered about Tony Allen? He was a non-factor apart from few minutes in one or two games in the playoffs. Good riddance I would say. Good luck to him.

You're kidding right? ::)

Although his defense will be missed, wing players are the easiest positions to get help.
He is certainly replaceable.

We should be able to get a more talented player with Rasheed's contract.

Hopefully we will be able to resign Nate, because i believe he brings more skills that are more difficult to find.

TA is one of the top 5 defenders at the 2/3 position.  He made a HUGE contribution to our play-off run.  He also was the consummate pro this year, never once complaining about minutes or use. And he always had nothing but very positive things to say about the Boston Celtics. I for one feel that he will be missed and not so easily replaced.

Would you miss TA if the best wing willing to sign with Boston for the vet min turns out to be Sasha Pavlovic?

Maybe those Chicago gangsters found out where Tony was living, and he had to leave town for his own safety.

It's dangerous to interpret too much "tone" to Danny's statement...  but it's easy to imagine Danny being a little annoyed with TA.  The team's given Tony a helluva lot more chances that I think any of us wanted them to give him - supporting him through the injuries, through the shooting incident in Chicago, through the concerns about his being in physical danger in the playoffs a couple of years ago (not to mention how truly horrid a basketball player TA has been at times).

Celtics have given TA a *lot* of opportunities, so I have to imagine Danny being a little frustrated and/or annoyed if he left for a couple extra dollars or because he was promised 25 minutes a game.

@the_Bird - this is a business... If a team is offering TA an extra year, plus the chance of a bigger role, he'd be dumb not to take it.

Personally, good for Tony. If Mayo shifts to PG then he'll have an opportunity to start there - that's not an opportunity he was gonna get here. TA is 28 yrs old, already has a ring - if he wants to go somewhere that'll give him more mins, good for him.

As someone previously mentioned, this is more telling that Danny doesn't have another move lined up. And I've officially stopped believing that Sheed's contract is going to net us anything that impressive. So this is a loss for us. As far as Avery goes, unless he adds another 15-20 lbs to his frame by the start of the season, he won't stand a chance against Bron/Wade/Kobe - they'll just post him up.

2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I'm going to miss the face T.A. makes when he takes free throws.  You know, like someone just ripped a rotten egg fart.

I thought TA loved being a part of this team. Guess we were all fooled.  Maybe Sheed had the same problem as TA.

TA's wingspan is 6' 9" plus he has 20 lbs on Bradley.

Didn't realize TA's wingspan was 6' 9".  I think that kind of proves my point that Bradley can stick with most SGs on defense though - as long as they aren't brutally strong and want to post him up.  If TA was able to guard Bron effectively, he stayed with him by using his long arms and quickness to get in Brons way, cause no way TA matches Bron's strength.  Bradley can use the same approach to contain most SGs.

I'm not really contending that Bradley can guard ALL opposing SGs effectively, but I maintain that a guy built like Bradley CAN contain most SGs (Kobe included, because Kobe doesn't rely on strength).  I'm not real sure about Wade's game though.  And, Bradley may offer more on offense then TA.  So, I'm not too bummed about losing TA.

Don't completely disagree with you but the problem with the Kobe statement you made is that although Kobe doesn't use overwhelming strength, he has become very good in the post and would tear Bradley up in there I'm sure.

I can see Bradley as being very similar to Rondo except leaning more towards a SG role as opposed to a PG, where he would not be as good of a passer but a similar defender and better shooter.  We will see though, this is best case scenario.  Still excited to see him play.

Bradley has a 6-7 ¼ wingspan so give him a year or two to bulk up. I'm sure Tony wasn't 213 lbs when he came out of college and Tony (28) has 10 years on AB (18 yrs old?) as well.
