Powe was vastly superior? LOL  That's why whenever there was a need for an impact player in a big game, Doc picked Baby over Powe, even when Baby was a rookie, and Baby delivered.

Let's look at the Lakers series in '08.  Playing time for the two guys.

Game 1.  Powe 9:19, Davis DNP
Game 2.  Powe 14:39, Davis DNP
Game 3.  Powe 5:59, Davis DNP
Game 4.  Powe 9:03, Davis DNP
Game 5.  Powe 4:59, Davis DNP
Game 6.  Powe 9:18, Davis 14:34 (blowout win)

Neither played very much in the season, but Powe was in every game (including the "Leon POW?" game when he scored 21), Davis didn't sniff the court until the series was over.

He had nine DNP's that whole postseason, Powe only sat out three games.

Was either of these guys a MAJOR contributor during that run?  Nah, because we still had Posey.

Your statement that Doc always picked Davis over Powe in important games, even while Davis was a rook, is patently false, though.

I don't want to trade Davis - but at his salary for what he can provide ... he represents value.

Now the problem is that he has not produced that consistently - but if he grows up a bit, he can.  But he is a trade asset - a good young cheap player - so if you want to trade for something valuable, he has to be discussed.

Because that was the playoffs and Doc doesn't trust rookies in the playoffs.  Powe had one impactful game in the playoffs.  How many impactful games did Baby have in the 2009 playoffs?

TP for citing those numbers.  I don't know why Bankshot can't admit that his statement was completely false and without basis.  Then again, maybe he is doing what Birdbrain described earlier with being too stubborn to admit one is wrong.

At this point I'd like to add one more reason why Davis is on the trade block to our already reasonable list:

-So that I don't have to read on this board that Davis is incredible and is a future starter on this team.

Anyone remember this article?  http://celticshub.com/2009/04/22/is-glen-davis-a-good-player/

Yup I remember that article.  At the time I was happy to read it b/c it neatly summarized everything that I was watching on the court but couldn't figure out how everyone else didn't see it.

Fortunately Davis has improved in some of his areas of weakness and has become a valuable bench guy who should be getting 8 to 10 minutes a night.  I like his hustle and swagger too.  But if anyone tries to overrate him, they might want to look at his stats from last season before they jump to superlative conclusions.

Baby who went on record saying the Celtics would be dancing around the Larry O'Brien trophy after Game 7. Gary Washburn wrote today that Big "Game" Davis scored 6pts in his final 3 games of the series. I didn't know it was that bad,but I'm not surprised either.

No, because he did choose Baby over Powe in the regular season, most notably against Orlando and the Spurs.
