He can still rebound and hit the 3.  Not very good value at that salary, but at least he'd expire at the same time as everyone else.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

Posey was the most unselfish player I've ever seen on the court. Never seemed to care about getting his on the court. I can't think of one single time. For me, he was the perfect teammate.
Maybe that was because his only offensive move was the 3pt shot. He had not ability to penetrate off the dribble. That's more understanding one's shortcomings than unselfishness.

Posey is now at the part of his contract that we didn't want to pay, and for good reason.

I believe Posey was hurt, that's why he wasn't playing well.  That being said, I'd rather go after someone like Battier.

Great thought. You've got to start game-planning for Miami and how you'll defend them without burning out Pierce and Allen. Also he can do time on Kobe, if we get that far.
When, not if, when we get that far,  ;) .

His offense didn't concern me at all, he was a solid backup. The team performance didn't lose much when he was in there. C's would keep or add on to leads. Then in the playoffs he was our x factor, the difference maker. So vital was he,that Lakers took that in to consideration with Ron Artest. Danny stupidly never replaced Posey. What kind of GM,has a team that beats the Lakers, decides to change anything at all? What other team are you building to beat? Don't like his offense? Didn't like when he hit two 3's in game 4 comeback? Some Celtic fans only care about what works, not dollars & sense. If a player steps up, pay'em. DA still needs to replace Posey and now TA.

Posey makes a lot. Would be better to get Battier or someone younger. Rockets have lots of wings.

I gotta agree with whoevery posted a couple above this one. Posey was a player DA should have kept! Sure, he may have been given a little too much money but would you rather overpay a little or underperform? Posey had an element to his game that very, very few players have, even some of the best. That element was the ability to do whatever it took and whenever it was needed. It may sound funny but that is a very difficult thing to provide consistently in any sport.

It will never happen, because if Danny brought him back it would be like admitting it was a huge blunder to break up the 2008 team by letting a key piece of that team walk.  Back when we were debating whether to re-sign him this time two years ago, everyone kept wringing their hands about giving him a four year deal, and how if we got rid of him we would have all this delicious cap space.  Well, that worked out marvelously, didn't it?  Two years without a title, two more years on the big-3's tires, and instead of bringing back a proven winner who actually helped us win the title, we rebuild the bench by throwing money at gems like Mikki Moore, Patrick O'Bryant, Shelden Williams, Stephon Marbury, Michael Finley, and Marquis Daniels.  If we had just signed Posey in the first place, who knows what would have happened in 2010 with more rest for Paul, and with a lockdown defender to irritate Kobe and to match Artest's intensity and unpredictability, and with the ability to knock down outside jumpers?  And, if we would have given him a 4 year deal back then, we would now be looking at 2 years remaining, so it would expire right when all of Danny's other deals expire, which happens to be -- surprise! -- right about when the big-3's window is closing.  Why, oh why, did we win in 2008 and decide it was a great chance to do some experimenting and tinkering with the lineup?  It drove me nuts back then, and it still does today.  Never in my basketball fandom was I ever so sure of anything as I was about how dreadful a mistake it would be to fail to re-sign Posey in July 2008.  It was horrible when I found out we let him go.  It was a Wednesday night, I remember.

2008 was incredible, and nobody can ever take that away, but I'm so bitter about what could have been with this group and what wasn't, through the stupidity of breaking up the core of that great team right after a championship, for a measley difference of whether Posey got 3 years or 4 years!  AAAAAAAAAARRGH!!!!!!  To anyone who insisted that he wasn't worth signing for 4 years, congratulations, you just got to enjoy two of those non-Posey-paying years, and there are two more coming up!  Enjoy!

you know how at baseball games fans put giant K's up every time theres a strikeout, as a way to keep track of the amount of strike outs a pitcher has?  We should start doing that for these 'Bring back Posey' threads.  Hes not coming back!!!!! These next two years, and especially the 4th are the years Danny didnt want to give him.  Poseys production has dropped and hes not the same player.  Danny was actually right, why would he force himself into the wrong.  .

Honestly,if you watched the Finals & wondered how did Ron Artest kill us, and still don't see? Then forget it,it's over your head. Lakers do what it takes, our GM should've notice what they were doing, quite frankly even what Byron Scott was doing?

Are you honestly saying that James Posey and defending Ron Artest was the difference in that series?  If so there are plenty of things that are over your head sir.  If we win game 7 Ron Artest is the goat in LA and people are screaming they never should have let Trevor Ariza leave.  If we have Perk in game 7 and we potentially win, are you still making this post?

Was Artest the difference in game 7?  Some people might say Yes.  Personally I think it was offensive rebounds and lack of front court depth due to Kendrick Perkins being out.  Ron Artest shooting brick after brick after brick in just about every other game in the series made a huge difference also.

I understand what you mean about spending money and doing what it takes to win, but you have to be smart about it.  Not signing James Posey was the smart move, we defended Wade, Lebron, and Kobe just as well without Posey.  If you want a GM thatll throw money around just for the sake of throwing money around then maybe you should give Isaiah Thomas call.  The Knicks have been in salary cap hell for the past decade and havent been able to rebuild b/c of Isaiah Thomas trying to 'do what it takes'

While I appreciate Posey's contributions to Banner 17, his time as a Celtic has come and gone.

I have seen quite a few Hornets games, and the 2008 version of Posey just doesn't exist anymore. Furthermore, I don't see Danny trading for the contract he wouldn't give in the first place. I sincerely hope he doesn't.

He did leave for the money, kinda what we thought would happen when he opted out of his option. If New Orleans had blew him away with an offer, I'd understand, but a year only as the difference? Then turn around and waste our time watching Giddens & Walker? After watching Ron duplicate what Posey did for us in the Finals, Da ain't getting the hint. Even Paul has to hint to DA. TA wanted a 3rd year, right? This is not simply about keeping Posey, but about replacing him. I can care less what he's doing for New Orleans. I care about keeping a 13 point lead. We all know Posey has two rings. Gee,I wonder what the Lakers did to keep Lamar Odom?

I think the horse is dead, guys.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
