Heat vs. Lakers, who do you root for?

Not even a debate, Lakers.  I grew up during the Magic Bird era and while it was competitive the rivalry was friendly... atleast it was in my 8 year old view.

In short I didn't grow up hating the Lakers, in fact Magic was one of my favorite players.

I am not a Kobe fan but I respect his dominance and I find him a far more deserving champion than LBJ... there was a time when he was arrogant and thought he ruled the world, I think the losing years after Shaq left/ran out of town Kobe grew up and learned a thing or two.

Oh I agree entirely. Also the Laker management is the best in many years thanks to West a great player in his own right.

This is crazy.  You can't be a Celtics fan and ever root for the Fakers.  Unbelievable this is being debated. As much as I dislike Queen James, I would root for her before the Fakers.

Very good point he was behind the trade of Gasol to Lakers.  Another astute eye of talent that West.

If a meteor came crashing down on that particular NBA Finals, I wouldn't be too broken up by it, to say the least.  If I had to pick one, I'd say Lakers, Lakers, Lakers.  I never thought I'd have a chance to see anything worse than a Laker dynasty, but a Heat dynasty would be 10x as insufferable because they have no real fans, and the ESPN Hype Machine would try to make them the greatest team ever in any sport, and these guys spit in the face of the idea of team sports.

It actually breaks my heart that this is even a debatable point on this blog.

There is nothing historically detestable about the Miami Heat.  Yes, there is reason for a Heat championship to be unsavory.  Pat Riley will be involved, Lebron's shenanigans leave me nauseaus, and the conspiracy behind the development of the contrived dream team is rotten to the core. All these things make me dislike the Heat. But... come on, Celtics fans cannot be seriously putting the Heat in the same league as the franchise who shall not be named.

This is as easy a choice as is imaginable -- I root with everything I've got for the Heat.  And I would do so for each of the next 6 years (or longer) if need be.

Where did you get the idea that Miami doesn't have any "real" fans? Where do people get these ideas? Do you know any fans from Miami? I do, and they are pretty loyal.

This would be a tough one.  I couldn't root for either team.  I absolutely don't want the 3 am-EGOs to win.  And I just don't have it in me to cheer for the Fakers.  I guess best case scenario would be to cheer for both teams to instantaneously combust on the court and the Celtics would win by default.

+1.  I thought this was a matter of what would be more insufferable, but with all the ego on the court at once, this might actually happen and the Celtics win every time.  Now the real question here is how to make it happen...
