I really liked Fernandez in his rookie year.  But it's strange that a second year player would regress.  He looked horrible every time I saw him last year.  He looked like a pretty wild and careless player.

Yep.  He absolutely looked clueless every time I saw him play too.  He is overrated because of how well he played overseas, but he hasn't played well in the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised to find Portland fans glad to be rid of him.

He was forced to play multiple positions, and the fact is that he didn't respond well. But he also had to fight trough injuries. He looked frustrated, without a defined role, put some blame on McMillan for his team management.

I'd rather have Rudy than Ronnie Brewer, JJ Redick, Nate, Delonte West, Gerald Green, Antoine, Dana Barros and others who get praise here in CB  ;D

What if I promise to buy a Rudy Fernandez jersey if he comes to town?

I'm slightly overweight, as pale as Scalabrine and already own 2 jerseys. This is no understatement.

He is in talks with Panathinaikos too.

I doubt the offer will be good enough to take him from NBA.

He's played spotty minutes behind the teams best player in system that doesn't suit him. It's difficult to argue that a change of scenery might not supply him a bit of a rebirth. He's not going to be ray allen, but he ain't gerald green either....

I would be all for Rudy - if we had lost Ray Allen... but I don't like him as a third wing on a this team, given our other small on the bench will likely be Nate.

rumor here in athens is that panathinaikos is making a pretty big push for rudy fernandez after losing vasilis spanoulis (formerly of the houston rockets) to their rivals olympiakos. i usually dont trust the greek media but the giannakopoulos bros. have $$$ and need to revamp the team after the losses of spanoulis and nicola pekovic this offseason.

This keeps being brought up, and is a distinct possibility, but I recall Rudy constantly acknolwedging that his preference is to stay in the NBA despite acknowledging that he is suffering from homesickness.

Rudy Fernandez has confirmed interest from Olympiacos SPORT, Regal FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Unicaja, among many others.

Fernandez's preference, however, is to remain in the NBA.

If Fernandez is stuck with Portland or another team unattractive to him, Barcelona becomes the favorite.

Yes.  Like StartOrien said he has said he wants to play in the NBA.  It's not like the guy is not good enough to get PT on an NBA team, he would play and I would love him on the Celts.

I hope we get him.

We need more than one player at the 2 n 3. We don't have anyone there currently besides the nursing home set. Adding Fernandez would be a BIG step in the right direction, unless you're content with marginal min contract players...

I think the price tag may be a bit too high for Rudy.

The Knicks and Nets are among the five teams on the wish list Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez has submitted to Portland management in the hopes of being traded.

According to a Blazers source, the club is looking to get draft picks in return for Fernandez, who no longer wants to serve as Brandon Roy's backup. For the Knicks to acquire Fernandez, Wilson Chandler would also certainly have to be included in a trade.

Draft picks, and/or a player of Chandler's caliber? That's steep for a guy on the last year of his contract.

Well, the Chandler part seemed to be thrown out there by the author, and I took it as meaning they would use Chandler instead of picks because, well, the Knicks don't really have any picks to trade...at least for 4 years or so.

True.

But would you give up a 1st for what may well be a one-year rental of Rudy? I don't think I would.

I'm surprised more people don't like Fernandez. I've really liked what I've seen from him in Portland and think he'd be a great fit balling with Rondo and the gang.

I'm definitely down with flipping a first round pick for him
