I don't know if this would work out numbers wise, but...

Would you trade Sheed for Beasley, if that would allow the Heat to get Lebron?

I would do it because it would give the Celtics another big guy with a lot of potential. Even though it would help create the "dream team" the Celtics are only going to be real contenders for the next two years and the Heat would prob have a hard time winning with 9 minimum vet players on their roster...

What do you think?

At this point, I think Wallace's contract is worth more in a trade then Beasley.

I don't think Sheed's contract will end up being that valuable. If the Nets, Knicks, Bulls and Clippers all get shut out (like I expect them to be), they will be able to pick up a bad contract from a cash strapped team for nothing due to their cap space. With so many teams being able to offer the same salary relief as us only on a larger scale, I don't think Sheed's value is that high.

No. No. No.

This would give the Heat more cap room and make it easier for them to pluck Ray Allen away from the Celtics. I'd rather keep Ray Allen.

Yes.  Because, for all his faults, he is a young guy with serious talent - and Boston is the sort of environment where that can go a long way.

That said, in Miami he becomes a 3rd option now - and potentially a very good one.

Id rather get a guy like Deng if the Bulls need some help to sign LeBron plus David Lee

Well, I get that Miami doesn't want Beasely.  But I'm nervous enough about the Wade Bosh combo.  And I'm more nervous about:

Chalmers
Wade
Beasely
Bosh
Center

I don't care if Beas. is better at the 4.  At some point talent out of position is better than neatly fitting pegs.....The offense and athleticism of that team would be a major concern.

Ray Allen cannot play the point and Wade isn't going to move to the three, so unless they're going to pay ray 10+million to come off the bench, that's not a concern.

To me, Sheed's contract for Beasley is a no brainer.  Even though he's been a disappointment in Miami, there is no other player Boston could possibly get this offseason that has more talent.  He could not only help this season, giving the Cs a Lamar Odom-type big off the bench, but if he gets his head together and plays up to his potential, he and Rondo would make an incredible core to build upon after the Big 3 are gone.

Grab Beasley for Sheed, throw the MLE at Shaq, resign Ray, Nate and TA, give the vet min to somebody like Gomes and that's a pretty good team to push for #18.

In less than 30 minutes a game last season, Beasley averaged over 14 points and 6 boards and he just turned 21.

Here is my decision regarding this for a few different scenarios:

-If the Celtics can use Sheed's contract to get Lee or someone better than Beasely, then I'd rather do that.

-If getting Beasely meant that the HEAT would then sign Lebron then there is no way I do this deal.  The whole intent of keeping the big 3 together and not going towards youth is to compete.. and the best way would be to limit other teams if possible.

-If there isn't much else out there, and Lebron is not going to the HEAT, then I'd be happy to make that trade.

I'm pretty sure danny is going to exhaust all possibilities with sheeds contract.  If the best deal available is for beasley than I'm all for it.  He's young, a 2 posistion bench guy for us with lots of talent.  Think of a defensive running team while perks out
c kg
pf beasley
sf pierce
sg ra or ta
pg rondo
Play like cowens/hondos teams, run teams into the ground and play great defense.  No center in the nba could stay with (healthy) kg.

I'd do that deal.

I don't see how Lee is coming to the C's.  Trading Lee in a sign and trade for Sheed doesn't free them up any cap space, since they can just renounce him anyway.  And they don't need a third team in a sign and trade since they already have cap space.
