Sign a LLE.

No LLE this year.  It's a bi-annual exception (we get it every two years) and we invested it in Marquis Daniels last year.

Bleh - OK retain Scalabrine due to Larry Bird rights - We need as much big man help as we can get and they are very expensive - 20 million over 4 years for Darko Milicic - are you serious??

at the current market values we are seeing the last 2 days, Scal should get 5 years at 7-9 million a year easy ;D

Is it respectful to ignore a moderator?

Asking nicely apparently to get on topic is secondary to last-word-itis, get back to talking about Paul's contract.

Speaking respectfully (and, obviously, somewhat off topic), almost all of your posts that I see are of the general discussion variety and not the moderator variety. Until this post I never noticed that you were a moderator. Putting your "moderator" posts in green would help insure that they are taken as such.

The question isn't just about player quality.  It's about the relative improvement in the chance of winning a title in year 1 of the deal versus the huge lag time it induces in the rebuilding process, which risks alienating Rondo.

Has anyone considered the possibility that blowing the team up is the move most likely to alienate Rondo?

If Rondo is alienated over our signing Pierce then Rondo would be the one with a problem.  Pierce played for a hell of a lot of crappy Celtics teams in his tenure.  Rondo already has a ring.  I don't think he has any room to complain about how the celtics have been run since he's been on the team.
If he does, and let me make it clear I think your projecting a problem that doesn't exist, he knows where the door is.

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Milicic is one of the saner contracts that have been handed out so far this off-season.  That would be a reasonable value if the Celtics had signed him; if and when Perkins recovers, the team could easily trade a relatively young, legit 7-footer with athleticism and shot-blocking ability who is a potential starting center in the NBA.

You're misreading what he's saying.

He mean the opposite, that Rondo might be very unhappy if we let Pierce walk and went into a rebuilding mode with the current team.

Nothing has been confirmed, the sources heard it wrong, and ESPN made a story saying nothing was confirmed. They're close, but nothing is final yet.
