Williams is a solid young talent. Sheed for him if Atlanta is trying to cut payroll to sign Joey?

I'll take Marvin Williams in the blink of an eye. He hasn't panned out to be a star, but is a reasonable player signed to a reasonable contract. If he can be had in a salary dump while keeping the MLE open, this should be a no-brainer.

edit: The trade works on RealGM but bombs on the ESPN Trade Machine (we take $87,500 more in salary than we are allowed to). Go figure.

That'd be interesting and somewhat makes sense for them (though more at the deadline).  If they keep Williams, they won't have cap room next offseason (whenever that is) to sign someone else to go with Joe Johnson, thus dooming them to 2nd round playoff exits (or worse) for the foreseeable future.  Dumping Williams would potentially put them under a cap (depending on the CBA) down the road, thus giving them at least an outside shot of adding another star in a year or two.

why did his numbers drop off so much this season? (he went from 14 and 6 down to 10 and 5)

I guess he could spell Pierce, but he's not much of a shooter, is he?

Josh Smith, Al Horford and Jamal Crawford is what happened.

from what ive seen his shooting is pretty inconsistent.  To be honest, Id still rather have Anthony Marrow.

I'd trade for Marvin in a heartbeat. What would it take though?
Sheed, a first rounder and Davis? i doubt they only want to salary dump him.

Anthony Morrow 2008-09

48%Fg, 46%3PT, 87%FT

Anthony Morrow 2009-10

47%FG, 45.5 3PT %, 88% FT

Yea not consistent at all....

Sheed + a first rounder sounds reasonable.

I imagine the Hawks would consider a salary dump in order to facilitate the re-signing of Josh Childress. Once the Hawks re-up Joe Johnson they'll be less than a million away from the luxury tax land and would surely have to let Childress leave while getting nothing in return for him.

The Hawks may view this scenario as a better option.

Not exactly a representative example for dependability.

Yes.

He's got a decent corner three, plus defender, fits well with our current roster. Full MLE to a big, a vet min big, then roll.

Outgoing: Sheed, 1st rounder, part of MLE
Incoming: Williams, Childress

Can't trade the MLE. Sorry.
