He can force a trade to the Cavs to play with Lebron.  CP3 is on very good terms with Byron Scott
He can't force a trade if they don't want to trade him.
true, but the Cavs have enough contractual flexibility that they can really unload pretty much everyone on the Hornets roster.

I mean something like

Paul (15, 16, 17.8)
Okafor (11.5, 12.5, 13.5, 14.5)
Posey (6.5, 7.5)

for

Williams (9.3, 8.5, 8.5)
Varejao (7, 7.7, 8.4, 9.1)
Hickson (1.5)
West (4.7)
Parker 2.8
Telfair 2.7

throw in a couple of firsts and you have a pretty solid offer with a ton of money saved by New Orleans and if they don't want Side Show Bob they could always take Jamison instead, whose dollars are twice as big but expire twice as fast.

That's a horrible trade offer. A bunch of 30th picks and scrubs and not a ton of savings at all for one of the two best point guards in the league, a guy who has been one of the five best players in the league when healthy? Absolutely no reason for New Orleans to do it. MAYBE if Varejao's and Williams's contracts were expiring after this season. But those are 3 and 4 year contracts. Considering that if Paul really wants out, he'll be gone in two years anyway, New Orleans would actually be forced to spend MORE in the third year of the deal than they would if they don't make the deal.

And besides, didn't CP3 and Byron Scott hate each other at the end? And didn't the Cavs sign Shaw, not Scott, to be their coach?
Go Celtics.

I'm getting worried about too much smoke coming from this direction...We need to make an effort to grab him if we can.

Not that I want him anywhere near Boston but, NO is looking to trade CP3 because they have Collison.  So since most of you think CP3 is better than Rondo why would NO want Rondo.  Just food for thought.

if we were comparing players in a vacuum - I think Paul wins out (better shooter, better passer and pretty close in defense and as close as any mortal besides kidd can be to rondo as a rebounder).  That said, durability is a huge concern, big enough that Rondo can be seen as having an edge.  And either way, Rondo fits our system nicely - as long as he doesn't develop hubris (and figure out how to keep teams like the Lakers from removing his impact).

Why on God's green earth would Chris Paul want to go to Cleveland and be one of the messiah's "my guys"?  To win a championship???  LOL.  The messiah won't win one unless he's crowned by Stern.

The only thing Jordan and the messiah have in common is that they'd / they'll never tolerate being on a team with a true PG.  Especially a superstar PG.

Put a Brevin Knight-type PG with the messiah and it'd a lot scarier proposition.

I'd be worried to see Paul in Orlando.  But I'd dearly love to see him in Cleveland or see the messiah sign in Chicago.

It would be great for us if it happened.

How so?  I think Paul fits in our system better.  We are not a running team, but Rondo thrives when we run.  The Celtics are a half court team and Rondo doesn't fit in that system because he can't shoot and doesn't spread the floor. That's the style you need to be able to play to win a championship.  Rondo MUST shoot better from the floor and the line next season if the Celtics want to compete for a 'ship.  We were lucky that we had Eddie House in the Finals in 2008. It still bothers me that Doc didn't play Nate more in game 7, especially when they were struggling to score. Nate only played 4 minutes.:-\

I think a CP3 trade makes a lot of sense for both parties. He's ready to move on and wants to win. New Orleans has Collison and Thornton as young guards and is desperately trying to cut payroll. They won't just dump CP3, but if they can get good young pieces and convince someone to take Peja or Okafor along with CP3, I think they have to do it.

New Orleans next year will be a middle of the pack to bottom of the pack team in the west and they're just barely below the luxury tax. Why would their owner shell out so much money (in New Orleans, of all places) when they won't sell out and they won't win.  Trade CP3 and move on.

A trade to NJ for Favors, Devin Harris, and some picks makes sense. NO gets a lot younger, they get a good young PG and they get the number 3 pick, who has potential to be a super star. There is no way NJ would include Brook Lopez in a deal, he is one of the best centers in the league already, they're building around him.

CP3
Lee
Lebron
Bosh
Lopez

That may be enough to convince Lebron to get on board with Jay-Z and Prokharov and bring a title to Brooklyn eventually.

The C's could help them.

Rondo, Ray (MLE-type money in S&T), Sheed, Baby, and Perk for CP3 and Okafor.

NOH saves a ton of money now and later.

Ray would have to agree to this.  MLE-type money and play in NO?  I highly doubt it.  Plus now we need to find a starting SG and backup 4/5 with only the MLE to work with.
If you can get CP3 you do it.

Reading all these S&T's involving Allen is really starting to urk me. Allen is not money chasing to the point where he'll let the Celtics decide his future! Remember, he has to agree to the new location and he'll be picky! We shouldn't even be discussing S&T with Allen until we hear "Chicago close to landing Allen" or something to that effect. I just don't get why there are so many unrealistic trades being proposed?

yeah, Ray is almost certainly coming back IMO...but if he goes anywhere it will be a team that it is competitive, not a team dumping salary and starting over....

Chris Paul and Lebron are friends.  Chris Paul loved Byron Scott as his coach and wouldn't mind to play for him again.  Playing with Lebron assures Paul of deep playoff runs every single season and depending on what else is there, they would be one of, if not the, favorite to win it all every single season.

I guess the better question is, why wouldn't you want to play with Lebron (wherever he is)?
