anybody worried about Bosh and LBJ going to NJ and then using Favors to get CP3?

CP3
CLee
LBJ
Bosh
Brook Lopez

That's an insane starting 5.

No.

1. Lopez would be a part of any CP3 deal
2. When the Hornets dealt Cole Aldrich and Mo Peterson to the Thunder, that cleared up enough cap space that they should be able to avoid being taxpayers (not there yet, but close).  THAT condition was what was driving CP3 trade talk.  But now the financial straits are not as dire.

yeah, but if Paul starts demanding a trade, they'll have to move him. Plus, NOs financial problems are deeper than just the lux tax. They just aren't making money (even with CP3).

Paul said he only wanted to stay if they were going to compete and with their financial situation they simply can't do that right now.

The C's could help them.

Rondo, Ray (MLE-type money in S&T), Sheed, Baby, and Perk for CP3 and Okafor.

NOH saves a ton of money now and later.

Ray would have to agree to this.  MLE-type money and play in NO?  I highly doubt it.  Plus now we need to find a starting SG and backup 4/5 with only the MLE to work with.

Chad Ford just said the following in chat:

Quote
The Blazers got close to a deal with the Hornets last week that would've sent Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick to NO for Paul before Jeff Bower pulled out of the deal saying that their owner wasn't ready to trade Paul. The trade they made on draft night got them out of the luxury tax, so that's no longer the issue. The issue is whether Paul is no unhappy enough to force a trade. Personally I think the Hornets can do better than that for Paul, but it's a viable deal.

He can force a trade to the Cavs to play with Lebron.  CP3 is on very good terms with Byron Scott

He can't force a trade if they don't want to trade him.

true, but the Cavs have enough contractual flexibility that they can really unload pretty much everyone on the Hornets roster.

I mean something like

Paul (15, 16, 17.8)
Okafor (11.5, 12.5, 13.5, 14.5)
Posey (6.5, 7.5)

for

Williams (9.3, 8.5, 8.5)
Varejao (7, 7.7, 8.4, 9.1)
Hickson (1.5)
West (4.7)
Parker 2.8
Telfair 2.7

throw in a couple of firsts and you have a pretty solid offer with a ton of money saved by New Orleans and if they don't want Side Show Bob they could always take Jamison instead, whose dollars are twice as big but expire twice as fast.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

While I agree it is unlikely, it is not that far-fetched. If Ray wants money and years (say 3-4 years at 7-8 per), he might not find a better deal.

I also think Tony might be fine as a starter with CP3 and Pierce. His defense would be more important than offense, and there would be no reason to have a two-guard that spreads the floor with CP3 and Pierce on the court. Pick-up T-mac for a one-year minimum so he can improve his stock while trying for a ring. Use the MLE for someone like Shaq. Fill-in where needed. It may not be the most optimal plan, but hardly the worst either.

If you can get CP3 you do it.

Not that I want him anywhere near Boston but, NO is looking to trade CP3 because they have Collison.  So since most of you think CP3 is better than Rondo why would NO want Rondo.  Just food for thought.
