I am a big David Lee fan. He runs the pick and roll very well, but can he play the center position? I have not seen enough of him to know if he can be a true center or if he is indeed a power forward... I am also unsure of his defense.

I like David Lee alot like everyone else, but I don't see where he fits in with this team...especially for the amount of money he's gonna wanna ask for.

No Perk, No Sheed - you can't see where another bigman might fit in?

We might just have to shift KG to Center for sometime. Not in love with the idea, but we don't exactly have a ton of options (GOD, I don't want anything to do with Brad Miller).
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Except he doesn't want to play C (like a few PFs) because there are bigger players there.  It will wear on his already questionable legs.

So what if he doesn't like playing C? I'm sure he can suck it up for a couple more months until Perkins gets back. If he doesn't want to sack up and play center for a contender for half a season after playing with the Knicks his whole career, then he isn't the type of competitor I want on this team.

And again, I don't think a first round pick is enough for NY to simply want to help us out.  If they want Ray, they can just sign him.  If the deal expands to help them dump salary, then it might work too.

Still, it's the Knicks.  I'm just waiting for them to screw this whole thing up and sign Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer to max deals (or worse, Ray Allen) and then become a playoff team that can never make it out of the second round.

That would be KG that doesn't want to play C.

Lee is the guy that is to small to play C on a good team.

what about lee being a dave cowens type of guy? i never really saw cowens play but it is listed at center at 6'9" and has 2 rings.

Lee is not Cowens.

Cowens lead a team to a title.

Lee, while good, gets to pad his stats on a Knicks team where he is the only 'big guy'.

does anyone actually think we would be better with adding Lee while subtracting Ray Allen? I sure don't.

Trading Ray for Lee won't make the C's better, but if you add Mike Miller it will. Lee is a very good rebounder. He starts the fast break with his rebounding and can finish on the break. The C's are at their best when they can play great D force a bad shot GRAB THE REBOUND and get out on the break,Lee fits perfectly .

Mike Miller would give you a SG who is 5 years younger than Ray, shoots great % fro FG,3's and FT's. He is also a very capable defender and rebounder. He is not Ray Allen , but a poor mans version of Ray. Good enough to start on a championship team IMO

PG: Rondo. / Vet min or Nate
SG: Miller /   TA
SF: PP.      / Vet min
PF Lee.     / BBD
 C: KG.     / vet min / Perk

I don't care that he is only 6'9 the kid can ball. Tommy would have a new favorite player for sure.

I'd love this trade! Lee maybe second tier, but he's easily one of the best centers in the East, 6'10" or not. We haven't seen him have to play much defense in D'Antoni's system, but he's got range, FT%, FG% and rebounding. Perk barely has three tendons in one knee. Of course we do this if it could really happen.

The difference was that Cowens was an All-League defender whereas David Lee is a liability defensively.

How do you know this? He hasn't been on a team that plays defense or even rebounds?? Plus, the C's play so much help defense, he wouldn't be asked to take on other better centers one on one every game. I don't want to diminish what Cowens did over his career, but everyone knows the league didn't start calling fouls until 1984 when Jordan came to town. Hell, Robert Parish PUNCHED LAIMBEER IN THE FACE and didn't even get called for a foul.

Lee is too small to play C on a good team for a season. But we only need him to play for half a season. I'm pretty sure we would be OK with a frontcourt of KG and Lee until Perk gets back. Many teams would kill to have that.
