Jeff Goodman said on WEEI this morning that the C's have a lot of interest in David Lee. There are also reports that the NYK are expected to talk to Ray Allen. The knicks were never going to resign Lee anyways because they want room forr 2 max free agent, so wouldn't this trade make some sense

Bos sends: Ray ( 3 yr 24 mil) + future pick

NYK sends: Lee  ( 4 yr 40mil +)

Could the plan be...

PP opts out and signs a 15 mil per year extension

Mike Miller is signed with te MLE

This way the C's would stay away from going way over the luxury cap, they get front court help, and sign a very good replacement for Ray with Mike Miller

I

Only if they are moving KG.

I don't want Lee nor KG as the starting C.

What??!! What are you talking about?! Why do we have to unload KG if we get Lee? That would be a perfect combo to play at PF. I don't understand in the slightest why we can't have KG and David Lee on the same team.

Lee is to small to be a C on a good team.

I wouldn't want to expose KG's legs to the pounding of the larger Cs
what larger centers?
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

We would have to sign a big banger with the vet min. Shaq, Ben Wallace

Lee and KG would be great playing together against most teams. The C's get their best offense when they play great D and get out on the fast break. Rebounding starts the fast break and Lee is a very good rebounder. KG can beat almost any center down the floor on a fast break and Lee is tremendous at this as well.

Perk would be back by the playoffs and that is a really good 4 man rotation on KG,BBD,Perk and Lee. You would need to add length with the vet min

That doesnt work for the knicks because they're bringing in cap space, and they need to rescind the rights of Lee to sign their free agents. This trade idea is impossible unless the Knicks dont get their free agents, in which case, they wouldnt want Ray

Right now Lee is 14 million hold. If they trade him for Ray on an 8 million dollar deal (they can make it four years to work) - they'd get to sign another guy for top money (16 per) and then have enough left over (10-12) to make a run at someone else.

I think the Curry idea makes more sense for the NYK though:

They could basically renounce Lee and shed Curry, and get Ray at 8 million (and maybe a role player has to come in to make it work) - but that gets them an asset or two in place of Curry's dead contract. How can they sweeten it for BOS though?

Lee (s & t), M. Miller (MLE), and Bonner (vet min) to Boston? Why no talks of them having a  secret summit meeting in Gainesville?

David Lee is wickedly overrated, though right?  He played for the Knicks...

I'm just sayin... I don't know how much I trust his 20 and 11 playing for that squad when Nate Robinson averaged 17 points for that team and was lower than Tony Allen on our depth chart.

You take what you can get, though.    Take on the contract of Eddie Curry to make it happen.  It's one year and at the deadline maybe you flip it for (best case scenario) andre Iguodala or Monta Ellis.

David Lee is exactly the kind of player you want to put next to Rondo. He can start and finish the fast break, play pick and roll, he dunks a lot, and he has a solid jumpshot. Rondo and Lee could be a scary combination for a long time. He played Center for the Knicks last year so he can do it for us until Perk comes back. If I'm Danny Ainge, I at least kick the tires on this one.

I love David Lee and would love him to be a Celtic but for the record Lee hates playing center.  It's one of the reasons he hates the Knicks and wants out of there.  He 's a power Forward and wants to play there.  He's not big enought to bang with the likes of Howard, and Shaq, and Bynum, etc.

6-9 is a little undersized at the 5 spot isn't it

and he was on the Knicks...

i would love to see him replace bbd

but a 10m bench player is just a little too much

Have you watched this kid?  He is a human Double Double.  Making him a 10 minute per game player would be the biggest waste of talent since Jordan played Baseball

We need to do something... And David Lee is a great player. His defense needs help, but then again he is in NY so who knows whether or not he can really play defense.

Let's do it, some get Danny on the phone....

i would play him about 30 mins

even to 35 in regular season to keep kg mins under 25

KG Lee and Perk  makes a pretty good rotation at 4 and 5 spot

but i still think he is a little overrated

and btw... by saying 10m i mean his salary lol

i think it's something close to 10 million a year

i would be a lakers fan to be talking about playing Lee 10 mins a game...

I feel like we have interest in Lee as far as offering him the full MLE. Why not see if he can take a discount to play with a championship contender. He would be a good long term replacement for kg.

I don't know, he was pretty p---ed off last season after the celtics wiped the floor with the knicks and talked trash.

Nah, he's still relatively young (27 as of April) and in this business, you have to get paid the big bucks while you can. Can't blame him.

But man, I'm drooling over this possibility of him with Rondo... We know he can play uptempo - that'd be fun to watch.
