Jeff Goodman said on WEEI this morning that the C's have a lot of interest in David Lee. There are also reports that the NYK are expected to talk to Ray Allen. The knicks were never going to resign Lee anyways because they want room forr 2 max free agent, so wouldn't this trade make some sense

Bos sends: Ray ( 3 yr 24 mil) + future pick

NYK sends: Lee  ( 4 yr 40mil +)

Could the plan be...

PP opts out and signs a 15 mil per year extension

Mike Miller is signed with te MLE

This way the C's would stay away from going way over the luxury cap, they get front court help, and sign a very good replacement for Ray with Mike Miller

Only if they are moving KG.

I don't want Lee nor KG as the starting C.

I'm okay with Lee as the starting 5 while Perkins is out, but ideally, yes. We'd be moving KG in that scenario.

I don't quite see why NY would want to do this.  They can just simply sign Ray if they want him.  I'm not sure a first round pick is worth trading helping out a division rival.

Yea I guessit would only make sense for them if it was

Bos sends: Ray + Sheed contract

NYK sends: Lee and the blob Eddie Curry

That way NYK would still have room to sign 2 max guys and also add ray allen. A Lebron,Bosh/amare/boozer,Ray team is legit.

Eddie Curry is making 11 mil , but only for 1 more season, he could be a big expiring contract at the trade deadline, especially from teams trying t get rid of a big contract before next yars lock out.

What??!! What are you talking about?! Why do we have to unload KG if we get Lee? That would be a perfect combo to play at PF. I don't understand in the slightest why we can't have KG and David Lee on the same team.

The OP deal looks pretty sweet. I'm on the border about how I feel about Lee as a building block. At 40/4, I'm definitely listening though.

I think David Lee might be one of the most overrated players in the league...however, if Pierce walks, I make this deal.

LOVE David Lee.  Don't know the CAP well enough to make sense of this, but I don't see how having he and KG on the same team could be bad.  He would be a nice transition to the post-KG era...

Lee is to small to be a C on a good team.

I wouldn't want to expose KG's legs to the pounding of the larger Cs

I agree, I see no reason whatsoever to trade KG in this scenario. Lee, though not ideal could fill in for Perk until he gets back.

Then I'd move Lee to sixth man, or have Perkins come off the bench as our enforcer.

Ideally though, I'd rather we load up on bigs.

Figure out a way to sign Brad Miller and Gomes with a split of the MLE. Do some trade to sign Mike Miller, have Washington sign and trade him...maybe they'd like Baby and Nate?

Brad Miller / Kurt Thomas (lle) / Perkins
KG / David Lee / Semih Erden or Shelden
Pierce / Gomes / Harangody
Miller / TAllen / Vet Min
Rondo / Vet Min / Bradley.

We crush the league.

That doesnt work for the knicks because they're bringing in cap space, and they need to rescind the rights of Lee to sign their free agents. This trade idea is impossible unless the Knicks dont get their free agents, in which case, they wouldnt want Ray

I think a front court of Perk / Lee / KG would work all around. I'd be fine with Lee starting Center or Perk starting and Lee coming off the bench. Lee's D is suspect against quick PFs though (and not great against Centers either.)

I might do Ray + Sheed for Curry + Lee, if they were sending a couple draft picks our way. Not sure what they have to send though. I'm not sure Ray Allen agrees to that unless Lebron already signed there. (I mean Lebron is pretty much the perfect guy for Ray to play next to for a few years and single handedly makes the team a playoff competitor.) And once he and Lebron are there, they'd get another elite guy, probably Bush, but also could be Dirk or Amare. Then they fillout the rest with minimum guys this year and see where it goes from there. But why would Ray go first to NYK?

You'd have used Sheed, Ray, and MLE to get this lineup:

Lee / Curry (replaced by Perk when he's back)
KG / BBD / Harangody
Pierce / TA
Miller / AB
Rondo / Nate

Assuming the teams uses TA's bird rights and Nate's early bird rights to resign both. I'd be really worried about the wing situation in that case and you don't have enough to improve it...
