I know there is already a thread about this, but I wanted to do a poll. I really think that Melo is in the top tier of players or just outside. Wade,Kobe,Lebron,Durant and then Melo.

On the other hand Rondo is probably a top 5 pg .

I think it would be a very fair trade. PG is a harder position to fill , so I would have to say No. Rondo is only a jump shot away from being the best pg in the game.

Now if there's a chance to get Melo in a S+T for PP or Ray and picks I would be all over it. A rondo and Melo combo would be amazing.

I really don't know.  On one hand, Melo seems like one of the best players in the game.  On the other hand, he's been surrounded by talent most of his career and has done very, very little with it.  If he's really a #1 guy, he should've gone a lot further in the playoffs than he's gone at this point.

Still, Rondo has been surrounded by top notch talent over the the past few years, so perhaps things are a bit inflated.  So it's tough.

I might do it only because Melo is perceived to be a superstar by other players and could be helpful in landing another big time free agent.  For instance, if the C's pulled the deal today and Pierce walked tomorrow, they might actually be able to persuade a LeBron or D-Wade type to come to join Melo.

I think the talent in Denver is a little overrated. It's a decent team, but Billups isn't the player he used to be and has a tendecy to take too many clutch shots away from Melo. After him, you're looking at some pretty decent role players in Nene, Birdman and JR Smith.

That's good talent, and they should've been able to go further, but I don't think its the great roster that it's often made out to be.

If Pierce and Ray are out, and you can grab Melo and then have about 10 mil in cap space I think you have to do it.

I think Melo has carried that team just about as far as they can go. Two years ago they were 2 wins away from reaching the Finals. Last year Karl got throat Cancer and that pretty much put an end to their title hopes, you can't really blame Melo for that.

That's a good point about the other free agents wanting to maybe play with Melo . A Melo/Bosh combo would be fun.

I think the talent Melo has been surrounded with has been good not great. They win 50 games every year and went to the WCF once. You really think he should have done more with that roster?

I'm really not sure, I think Rondo has more upside to him at this point. Carmelo is a better player at the moment though, but also plays a role and position that is much easier to fill.

Anthony may be the better player...But like the messiah, it's too much about him.

I'd say you keep Rondo. The two most important position in the league in my opinion are PG and C. There are a large amount of good wing players but less so at the C and PG position.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Celtics need to keep Rondo if they trade for Melo so he signs an extension.

Sign and trade Pierce if you want Melo.  Pierce gets to stay with a contender and get the max money (something I don't think the Celtics want to do)

Denver stays a contender out West.

No Carmelo is a great player, but I don't believe he has what it takes to lead a team to a championship.

If it where to do a sign and trade with Paul Pierce for Carmelo I would definitely do it, but it would PAIN me so much to see Paul go.

We would have to resign Ray though, because I feel that our KG and Ray would be needed to put Carmelo in the right direction.

No. Rondo at the moment is the best player we have after the Big 3 are gone. Any trades should be to get another good player to pair him with not exchange for what could end up being a lateral move if we have to downgrade at PG.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

No.

Even though Anthony is a superior player, Rondo has too much going for him.

1. He's still improving greatly year to year - and yet he is already the number 1 defensive PG and an all star.

2. PG is a harder position to fill. Rondo is top 4 at the PG with the potential to move up. Anthony is the 3rd best small forward, and he's not catching James or Durant anytime soon.

my vote is no
rondos upside is incredible if he reaches his full potential
he is the sort of player who will make everyone better, cannot say that about melo

What do you think Rondo's full potential is? What do you think Melo's full potential is?

I think Melo's full potential, if he reaches it, is better than Pierce.

It is so easy to throw around the word "potential", but we need to be realistic in our projections.
