If Pierce and Ray do leave, the C's pretty much have to trade Kevin Garnett. The question I have is what type of market will the C's find for KG. At the time Ray and Paul leave, it will be well into free agency, so that could affect what teams might do (i.e. if Lebron still hasn't signed the Cavs might make a hard push for KG or teams that lose out on the big names, might want KG as a secondary plan).
I realize the Celtics won't get great value back, but there have to be some trades out there worth exploring. And again this is only if Pierce and Ray leave because at that point it would be time to go into rebuilding mode.
I was figuring Hickson level players would be the best the C's could do if they were to trade Garnett. I can't see much better value out there for an over the hill star making close ot 40 million over the next two seasons. The only caveat is if the C's could swing a sign and trade to some team. I mean would the Hawks want Garnett in exchange for Joe Johnson, for example. I know the Raptors would be more then happy to take KG if we took Hedo along with Bosh. The problem is by the time the C's would trade KG most of the free agents will be signed and those guys might not actually want to come to Boston if Rondo and Perkins is all that is on the team.
