Trade Idea: Rondo to the Wolves for Rubio and No.4

No I'm against putting all our eggs in the potential basket. It's too risky to trade Rondo away who despite his flaws is one of the best players on our team for 2 players who haven't yet played a minute in the NBA.

If the Wolves are looking to trade the No. 4 (apparently already offered it to the Blazers for Batum), what if we offered Rondo for the No. 4 and the rights to Rubio?  We have to start acquiring young franchise-type talent and a Rubio/Cousins combo would be a good start. 

why in the world would u trade a young, PROVEN, all star callibur player like rondo (who still has upside) for players that arent proven and might be busts??

I have no interest in trading Rondo for the unknown. Rondo is a legit top 5 point guard, and still getting better. He's also a top 20 player league wide.

I'd only trade Rondo if I thought I could get a young top 15 player in return. In other words, Rondo isn't going anywhere.

Terrible Idea!

Once Rondo gets that jumper consistent and becomes practically unguardable he has annual MVP consideration written all over him.

Rubio can't even play in the NBA this coming season so there is no way we could sell to people we are competing for a championship in 2010-11.

This sounds like a Control+ALT+DElete kinda deal that puts us in the back of the weak EC pack. My 1st gut reaction is no - stick with Rondo and make him a FT shootah and a scoring PG and triple double machine.

Rondo plays defense, Rubio might be Ernie DiGregorio on defense (translation - no good on defense).

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm just not that enamored with Rubio. He could be as talented as some say, but this whole "Signing a contract in Europe AFTER being drafted" thing has turned me off. He hasn't even played in the NBA yet, and somehow he's got an organization in the palm of his hand.

Rondo currently as a poison pill provision contract, which becomes BYC on 7/1.  Trading Rondo is nearly impossible.  I don't get the "trade rondo" threads...

I'm just going to throw this out there, Rondo was the Celtics best player for long stretches of the postseason (if not the Finals) but four seasons in, there is no reason to believe he's going to develop an even mediocre shot, from the charity stripe or long range. He was worse this year than in his rookie season.

(And is there any precedent? A guard that was a sub-65% free throw shooter early in his career improving to 75-80%? I'd be more optimistic.)

As for the trade proposal, Rubio and Cousins (assuming he's available at 4) would add both more talent and more "What If?"s than a Marvel comic book.

Considering Minnesota should be some $20 million under the salary cap, where's the beef? Isn't the team in an ideal position to absorb Rondo's poison pill provision?
