If the Wolves are looking to trade the No. 4 (apparently already offered it to the Blazers for Batum), what if we offered Rondo for the No. 4 and the rights to Rubio?  We have to start acquiring young franchise-type talent and a Rubio/Cousins combo would be a good start.

Well, if Danny thinks Cousins will be a definite All Star type of player, then I do it.

While i dont like that the premise of Moving rondo for a player that probably wont player here for a couple years in Rubio.  I also really dont care for Cousins.  I get the impression that he is lazy, and not disciplined.  but maybe thats just me.

No.

I am against trading a young star in Rondo for two maybe potentials.

Now trading one of the big three, that I could get behind if the deal is right.

why in the world would u trade a young, PROVEN, all star callibur player like rondo (who still has upside) for players that arent proven and might be busts??

Sure, if Al and Flynn are coming back, too.

In other words, probably not.

It is an interesting idea. If Cousins was available, and he should be, Cousins and Rubio is a very intriguing duo. I think both have All-Star potential but I'm not sure if either can match the current ability of Rondo (top 20 player, top 10 player on his day) or Rondo's potential.

I would rather go with the certainty of Rondo than the uncertainty of Cousins/Rubio ... but it is a tempting offer.

That said, I don't think Minnesota would have any interest in this trade.

I agree with Who, they did just have a great rookie season out of Johnny Flynn after all.

Really now? Really...I love this time of year for rumors and trade talk, but stuff like this is what throws it down the tube.

Interesting idea.  From what I saw of Rubio, he is like Rondo at a much earlier stage of development, except that he can shoot foul shots (89%).  Huge hands; freakish wingspan; sees whole court--including ditrectly behind his head; pass first.  Rondo is a quicker, better natural defender, but Rubio tries hard more consistently and hangs in there pretty good.

The people who are worried that too much of Rondo's prime will be consumed with waiting for the extended contracts of the (former) Big Three to expire, should give this Rubio idea some thought.

It depends on who is there at 4, and we'd also have to take back a bad contract.

I disagree that Flynn is the Wolves' answer, or that the Wolves even think he is.  He is not suited to the triangle, and IMHO except for Toney Douglas Flynn is the worst PG drafted last year in the first round: Maynor, Jennings, Collison, Beaubois, Lawson, Holiday, and maybe Teague are all much better.

Rubio just doesn't want to play in Minnesota. I'm sure going to a marquee franchise would do wonders for his eagerness to play in the NBA.

Making the the trade bigger, why not do the following?

Rondo
Davis

for

Big Al
Rubio
#4 (Cousins)

Minnesota doesn't feel Big Al and Love can co-exist and Rubio has been forcing Kahn's hand since he was drafted. We would downgrade at PG, at least for the next year or so, but would be loaded along the frontline with young bigs (Perk, Al, Cousins). I would even be willing to include the #19 to get this done.

Isn't Rondo a young, franchise-type talent?  Rubio and Cousins are prospects, and Rondo is already an all-star point guard who has yet to hit his peak as a player.  Seems like we already have a player to build around for the future.

Rondo currently as a poison pill provision contract, which becomes BYC on 7/1.  Trading Rondo is nearly impossible.  I don't get the "trade rondo" threads...

The trade I proposed works via ESPN
